Veils are usually pretty good eaters. Are your temps okay? He may not be warm enough to eat until 3pm, which is typically the hottest part of the day in some regions. Does he have a food preference (i.e. superworms) that he may be holding out for? Without knowing his previous eating patterns, temps, prey, etc... it is hard to diagnose. Have you tried free ranging some of his food?
Hi, thanks for your replies he's only young so would he manage with not being fed for two days??
His terrarium is a pretty constant temp once his lights have been on for a couple of hours, ranging from 28-29C up top to 24C on the floor (where he rarely spends time) though this morning was the coldest morning of the year so far and the top thermometer was reading 18C at 7am this morning.
At the moment he's so small that we're struggling to find anything he'll eat other than small crickets and mini mealworms. We wanted to avoid the mealworms altogether because they are no good for him but the morioworms and hoppers we bought were far too big for him with no smaller options readily available. He can eat anywhere between 6-10 small crickets in a day, so far he's only had 4 mealworms spread out over two different days with the rest of the meals being crickets. We've had him a week and three days and this has always been the norm for him but it's something I'd like to try and sort out as I know it's not good for him.
We started out free ranging but he was eating 3 maybe 4 crickets a day, would it be worth trying out free ranging again and seeing if that gets him interested? He's active and wandering about all day, jut not heading to his cup until the afternoon.
