Veiled's and veggies

So I'm starting this thread to ask other veiled owners about their chams veggie eating. My veiled loves greens just as much as crickets. Collard greens and kale is his favorite but he'll eat any dark leafy green. Obviously avoiding spinach due to impeding calcium uptake. But he also loves and I mean LOVES tiny diced up pieces of raw sweet potatoes. They're loaded with vitamin A and all kinds of good stuff. I do limit the amount of veggies he gets everyday because it can make his urate a lil more runny. Hope to hear some funny and educating veiled vs veggie stories, thanx!!!

i used to make my veiled a worm & veggie "salad", and he would pick at the worms, but not eat any of the veggies or fruits that I put in there  I think he got that from my dad lol. Pick out the "good stuff" and leave everything else behind :p

Haha that's great, I still do that myself

me too lol. how did you get your cham to eat veggies?

I got him like that lol the pet store was giving him lettuce so I switched him to some more nutritious greens. But the fact of the matter is he will eat ANYTNING if he can flick his tongue at it he wants to eat it. I handfeed him his food and he is starting to get very friendly with me. The small pieces of sweet potatoes I sit in the palm of my hand and bring my hand to him an he doesn't even flick his tongue he just leans down and grabs one with his mouth lol I need to make a YouTube channel of nothing but my reptiles eating cuz they all are pretty funny in their own way

Funny thing is my panther Cham has absolutely no interest in veggies at all and walks away from them but I've heard it's super rare for a panther to eat vegetation

Thats cool :) My cham was very friendly too :) He would actually come to the cage door and stare at me until I got him out :) He always made my day :)

That is awesome! Pascal wouldn't hand feed until the last day :( He has surgery, and afterwards I fed him but hand and he ate like 10 worms in a row :)

It's so wonderful to see them get excited and eager for the goodies your bringing them. Especially when they handfeed. I read about pascal in your thread, I'm so sorry for his passing:( how old was he if you don't mind me asking?

it is :) It made my day when I handfed him :)

Thanks, he was 1 and 1/2. I had him since he was 1 month old. I foun d out today though that chams shouldn't be sold till they're about 2 months old, so I'm blessed to have had him as happy/healthy as he was :)

Veiled tacos:

Get collard greens, a meal worm, and some canned pumpkin pie filling. Wrap pumpkin pie filling in collard green leaf for a shell, and put worm in middle. was also the favorite for the bearded dragon and frilled lizard.

I haven't tried my veiled on veggies. Where should I start? I find it had to imagine him taking them from me but he might surprise me!

I cut it up into manageable slices for him after this happened...

Had to get it and take that bit away from him

Lol! His eyes are bigger than his belly! Or his mouth rather :D

My girl will eat anything green, loves sweet potatoes (steamed) strawberries for a treat and mango sometimes.

She will do anything for veg, she even hunts the salad bowl. Check this out, caught her with her legs in the air!

Dark leafy greens are best. Avoid spinach tho. Kale is really high in vitamin A and calcium so that's always a good one to start with

My little girl LOVES broccoli. I buy organic pre-washed and break off bits of the crown and put in her salad cup. She doesn't like the stalks.

Oh yeah I agree with David Buchan. I don't use broccoli or spinach at all for that reason, not even to gutload. Here's another good link to add to Sandra's to a chart which gives a quick breakdown of which veggies are good and which should be avoided http://www.greenigsociety.org/foodchart.htm
