I lost my last batch of eggs due to too much water i think. Some had told me they use 3 32oz vermiculite to 1 cup of water. I just mixed this and it seems very dry? (but again i used too much last time) I just read another thread for Veiled cham and it was the same with less water? 3/4 cup. There is no way i could squeeze any water out of this mixture. Please help am I doing this right? She layed eggs yesterday while i was at work and I need to dig them up now and do not want to mess up again! Mine is a Panther.

This is how it works grab a handful ( one hand ) squeeze it and a drop or two should come out that's it. Make sure you mix it well before squeezing it.

Thanks for the help, thats kinda what i did last time but it is a lot more water then the 2 others have told me or mentioned in other threads.

Just because eggs go bad there are many other factors involved like fertilization just to name one. I have had many clutches hatch out using this method rather simple but why fix something if it's not broke. You asked for help that's the best I can do for you.

It should be:
(3) 32 oz cups of Vermiculite and 3 measured cups of water. (Perfect Mixture)

I never have to add water to this through the entire inubation.

Just remember not to turn the eggs over when you move them, as the air pockets can suffocate the embryo in the eggs.

I use the same method as Dean, how often did you check the eggs Im sure you would of been able to stop it before they fully pegged, and did you have 2 pin sized holes in the lid?

A really good way to sort this problem is to get a big wadge of paper towels in a bunch and push them down hard on the wet vermiculite, press hard for about 30/60 seconds until any excess water has been absorbed, when you have finished, stir it up a bit and it should be just right!

Works for me every time
