i was wondering if any one has or knows any videos or pics that show ways to hold chameleons when administering oral medicines or cleaning eyes with saline solution. luckily my chameleon will voluntarily lick drops of her medicine but if i ever needed to clean her eyes it would be very useful to know! any tips on how to make the chameleon as comfortable and stress-free as possible? (and perhaps also ways to do so with only one set of hands?)

from my experience, get a buddy to help. but when my cham was sick he was a stubborn jerk who would clam up and not take to meds willingly. as for the stress free aspect; not gonna happen, but if you find a way, you are my hero. just looking at these critters the wrong way stresses them out... the only time orbit had eye problems, we just used a q-tip lightly on the eye, but that was dried skin build up. it cleared up after a few weeks. as for videos, i have no idea if there arent any on youtube.

oh man...i guess i have to do some more research on youtube. the vet makes it look so easy to do by himself! i do remember someone here saying they had their cham hold onto a towel with all four legs as they gave him medicine or removed a sperm plug and he was pretty calm.

Buy a dropper from a drug store and start training your chams to drink from it. If you can get this right you should never have an issue with hydration/supplements/medication.

Put the dropper within half a foot of the cham and wait for it to see it (drip a couple drops) before slowly moving closer. Some chams need to see drops put on leaves before they make the association.

I've managed to get my older grumpy veiled to take to it as well as my latest batch of neos all within 2 weeks of being born. It just takes a steady hand and some patience.

In situations where you need to administer something but they wont take from the dropper you can gently (but firmly) grab your cham from the back of the neck joining your fingers under their front legs. This should get them gaping and give you an opportunity to quickly put the dropper in and squirt.

if i have to give meds i inject it into a waxworm or a mealworm
with mine being a pig its gone in seconds
