Was digging but now not??

Does anyone know how long oxytocin takes to work? (If its going to...) I feel sick with worry about her right now. She hasn't even been mated. This seems so unfair!

Do you have a camera you can set up near her enclosure? This will give her the feel of privacy but allow you to closely monitor her to see how she is doing.

It usually works right away but if it’s to late in their cycle, it probably want work at all.
Hi, when you say straight away, do you mean like an hour, 12 hrs, 24hrs? She's very dark this morning but showing no signs of digging yet. She had the jab 15.5hrs ago (and counting!!)

That sounds like distress colors. I’d bring her back in.

Usually, in an hour or so. Sometimes the vet gave several injections along with calcium. Usually, when they didn‘t start laying right away, it didn‘t work.

I did have but it stopped working. Stupid technology!

This was how she looked when I fed her. She has taken a locust, 2 worms and water from me this morning. (That's the only time I've interrupted her, total privacy for her otherwise)

Bummer your camera stopped working. Keep us posted

I haven’t experienced anything like this before so can only offer up my opinion. With it already being Thursday, you don’t want to run into any problems in the weekend when the vet is closed. Also, the longer she goes, the weaker she’ll become which will make recovery that much harder. I would be calling the vet and making the appointment to take her in tomorrow. If she starts digging/laying before then, you can always cancel the appointment.

She pooped!!! After 2 weeks of no feaces whatsoever, this is a good sign. It's gross and defo not healthy, but is huge, so fingers crossed its a sign of things starting to move in her tummy. Let's hope these eggs come out over the weekend

The urates are fairly orange and the part of the poop next to them is dried out more than I like to see. Is she drinking ok?
No, she's not drinking much and not eating much. She only takes a few licks of water when I hold it in a small tray in front of her. Doesn't seem to be licking the leaves after misting like she used to. This whole poop is very abnormal for her but, given her current circumstances, I'm just really grateful she's done anything at all. The urate is very orange compared to normal but I'm praying it's a sign that there's movement in her belly and she'll get these eggs moving. I'm terrified she'll end up in surgery. It's taken 3 warm baths in an electrolyte solution to get this out of her.

Have you tried a dripped. Just take a deli cup and prick a tiny hole in the bottom of it so it drips at the rate of one or two drips per second.

You are disturbing her when you give her baths and when they’re producing eggs you want to not disturb them any more than absolutely needed.

They don’t absorb the fluids through their skin, so what is it doing to soak them in electrolytes?

If she’s producing urates and poop there is movement through the intestines…but that doesn’t mean there will be movement through the reproductive tract because the other things are moving I’m afraid.

I haven't tried that, thank you for that idea.
I didnt disturb her for ages but ended up having to take her to the vet. He's a reptile specialist so im inclined to try anything he suggests. Apparently they can absorb small amounts of nutrients and the warm water with the electrolyte should start her tummy moving. It seems to have worked in making her go toilet. The idea was that if she's constipated too, this will take up space and make it harder for her to pass the eggs. I feed her then bath her so it's all in 1 disturbance, all very slowly and calmly, then she's back in her viv covered with a sheet so she's not disturbed again. It's so hard to know what to do but if she doesn't lay these eggs she'll end up in surgery, which is crazy risky for such a small creature. Feels like I can't win at the mo.
