Washing plants question

Hey guys I purchased an umbrella plant earlier and I know it's supposed to be washed so when I got home I used soapy water and sprayed it all over the plant. I then rinsed the plant in the shower with hot water. I soaped it up and rinsed it in the shower one more time. I let it sit for a bit and noticed that it still looked like it had some stuff on it. I grabbed the plant and put it in the shower again and it still looks like it has some stuff on it. I'm starting to question if it's just from the water. I have been using a wet rag to clean all the leaves and was wondering if it would be ok after

I also have an umbrella plant and if it is white "stuff" that looks dried on the leaf it is most likely hard elements in the water that is left on the leaf once the water evaporates. I would try using distilled water to rinse the plant AFTER washing with warm soapy water. Just to make sure there is no hard elements to be left behind.

And when you mist or use a dripper, if you are using regular tap water, this will just keep on happening. You will need to use distilled or RO water on a consistent bases. Which is better for the cham anyway imo.

Good luck

Ok it must be the water then. I'll spray it down with some distilled water and I always use distilled water for misting and my dripped so hopefully this doesn't happen again. Thanks a lot:)

It's probably minerals from the tap water in your pipes.

A lot of people recommend washing plants with a gallon (or bottles) of distilled water, but I think that's a waste of money.

I would just wash with distilled once, and then I wouldn't worry about it.

Or get your own water filter for your mist water so that the buildup stops later.

Ya I sprayed it down with distilled water and it's pretty clean now, just a couple of leafs that still have it but I'm gonna use a rag to just clean them off
