water drop on egg?

My Panther eggs are now 7 months old and I noticed a small drop of water 2 days ago before I was going away for holiday. So I took them with me since I seem to remember someone saying this ment they were ready to hatch. Now 2 days later a large drop of water this AM on the same egg. With the holiday coming I need to order pin head crickets today if they are going to be hatching. Can anyone tell me if this is correct or when they may hatch?

It can still be awhile (several weeks ) before they hatch. I always wait until I see a nose peeking out before I order my ff. The neonates don't eat for about 4-5 days which is enough time for you to get some flies.

Do you have pictures? I suspect they are about to hatch sometime soon. (Could be longer, as said by BocaJan)

Thanks so muchfor the information, I am a wreck and hope I did not do more harm then good taking them in the car for a 5hr trip! I cant find the other thread about the water drop on the egg, but felt it meant they would hatch in a day or so. A week or so sounds better to me!

If you had left them at home they would have been fine. They can crawl around in the hatching box without issue and in fact, can stimulate the other eggs to hatch.

I am on vacation in Ga going home to FL tomorrow. No I do not have the link here to put photos on but I can when I get home. I am so excited I cant stand it!!

Ouch-I would be worried about taking them on a 5 hour trip also. The temperature/humidity/light change alone could do much harm let alone all of the movement.

I agree-wait til you see entire babies before you order anything.

Another newbee error in taking them. I just did not know what to do and when I saw the water drop thought they would hatch the next day or so. Do you think I will loose them?

Thanks for the offer I will take you up on the Cham sitting or egg sitting next time. I left at 5 am the day I saw the drop of water, so might not have been able to get them to you. Now I know better. I do want to come see your Chams soon if I can some time.

I raise veileds and have found that babies handle 1/4" crickets just fine. It keeps the problems with the flies at bay. No matter what, those flightless fellas can hop, skip and jump pretty fast! No matter what I do I get flies in the house.

Thanks again for the information. I will order 1/4 crickets instead then and may even be able to get them at a pet store if one hatches sooner then others. Do they eat right away? and should I just leave him in with the other eggs for a few days then?

Baby Panthers are way smaller than baby Veileds-so I would order large pin or fly sized crickets.
