Hey guys, I've been a member for some time now and fell out of my chameleon hobby awhile back but...im glad to say after getting a new job and stumbling over some "new pet" thoughts, I found my way back around to Chameleons  So last Thursday I placed an order for a pair of Jackson's.(Live bearers intrigue me). Her toes seem broken or badly damaged as a few of them are "bent". She was a "Wild Caught" so I can only imagine what she has been through on her journey here :/ I also don't like the idea of WC animals because I feel that their being stripped of a life they once knew as opposed to a "Captive bred" animal that would be more tame and used to captivity. But somehow, ive come to appreciate her and im glad shes in my hands and no longer in the hands of abusive sketchy reptile exporters. Here she is soaking in some luscious Florida sun:

Even us humans were wild once. We lived in caves. Clubbed our women. Couldn't read, write, communicate, or even start a fire. No we live in communities, work, drive, etc... I hate the idea too, but you have to admit one thing. With some owners, they can have a great life.

She was probably WC from either Hawaii or Florida where there are feral populations. The expense (legal import) or risk (smuggled) to bring in a WC from Kenya is not worth it for a $40-60 lizard...

I am glad you and that pretty lady got together.:) I thought you said you ordered a pair? Did you get the male also?

Also there is no legal export of WC chameleons from Kenya. Kenyan animals when available sell for hundreds of $$. True Kenyan xantholophus are much different then what we have available from Hawaii.
