Weird sounds from veiled???

Good morning everyone,

Last night I was out and my husband was home alone, he doesn't do much with our lizards but enjoys them all!! He was sitting in the living room (which is a bit away from the lizards) and heard a funny screeching/screaming sound, he walked into the front room where the lizards are and heard it was coming from our veiled tank,Leaf was starring at him and didn't shy away, which is what he normally would do!!!!

Is this normal behaviour or not??? Sometimes when he gets upset with us he does screech/scream, but he was alone, my husband said that he thought he was calling him, but really????

I am not worried about him being sick or anything like that but was thinking it was weird???

Thx

It could have been wheezing which definitely would be a sign of an upper respiratory infection. If he is in a "tank" that could be part of the issue.

Not in a tank he has a screen, I too wondered about respiratory infection but he is good in every other way, what signs should I watch for???

I would love to have heard this sound......:)
Screeching or screaming is just not in their vocabulary really.....
I am guessing he made a loud hiss. Or maybe what I would call a 'huff' sound.
My male Veiled does that to himself sometimes, just like a big, quick breath....totally normal if that's the case.
In respiratory infection cases you would look for coughing, wheezing, a 'popping' sound when breathing, gaping, any visible mucous.

I am thinking it was a hiss, When Randall hisses it's pretty loud and scary lol He scares me more then a cat hiss lol

ok I will watch for all that, he is now roughly 5 months now so maybe he is showing off!!!!

I do think that is part of it, lol. I also think there is no chance he was 'calling' to your husband :D
He looks in top condition from here, good stuff :)

Hmm that little one is looking suspiciously female to me... no tarsal spurs at all......... lol

Ok, he's male...does have a small casque and looks a little small for a 5 month old though :).........

Good call, a 5 month old male should have a bigger casque too.....'it' also looks a bit small for 5 months old.....

That's what I was thinking also! but in the other pic she just put up he has definite spurs. Just a late bloomer I guess lol

not quite 5 months only just over four, I have thought he was little too!! We got him at the September 15 expo in Toronto and the guy said he was about a month old, but he was so tiny, so maybe younger???? he eats a ton, and poops lots???

Just over 4? He's totally normal :)

If he eats well and is only just over 4 months then he is perfectly fine! My apologies for causing a fuss lol
