What are your opinions on Superworms?

So I wanted to know your opinion on supers. I currently for variety have crickets, dubia(colony in progress), wax worms(occasionally) and I have bought supers the past couple of times I went to the petstore. I am thinking about breeding them because they are relatively easy to breed. But as far as a feeder, how often do you guys include them in your Chameleons diet and how many at one time? I have been giving them to her, about 4 a week I would say maybe a couple more give or take. She loves them, hasnt shied away from eating anything else so that is good. Just wanted opinions.

I like them a lot. We don't have other worms in Poland (exept wax worms which I buy only once a couple of weeks/months). I belive they shouldn't be fed more then every other day, because of a high content of fat. I give them to my female only after I weight her, and if she hadn't gain, I offer her one.
Too many causes impaction, they have a hard shell. I believe they shouldn't be more than 20% of your cham's diet.
If you are worried about the hard shell you can feed a super to your cham after it sheds, they are white and soft ;)

I keep supers on hand all the time. I feed them along with a large variety of other feeders to my chams once or twice a week. They are a good feeder to use as part of your variety as long as they are well gut loaded.

Yeah personally I wasn't taking that into my decision because I know how to feed and when to feed. So were you talking about the high fat content in the Supers?

Yeah I was really considering breeding them. I wanted to purchase 1,000 of them the other day but held off on it until I knew what more experienced Chameleon owners thought. And they will be used as a variety along with a cricket/dubia staple. Hopefully I can throw in some Silks also if I can breed them.

They can be a great feeder if gutloaded right, but can be addictive. Lucky for me, Yoshi is not picky AT ALL. If Isa is a total killer (like Yoshi), she should have no problem eating them regularly. Here's an awesome video on how to breed them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8M2uessLgM

Great video! I looked at it and I have seeen the tier system and it seems to work well. I may try it that way, but I am not a fan of mealworms because they have more chitlin in their shells. But yeah I will have to look into it. I have to get money to get a tier going i think they are like 20 bucks at wally world.

Lol the mealworms part was just an extra. All the other videos I've seen on superworms are crap.

I thought there was a couple of good videos on youtube for them but this video was good and explained it all. I am also going to order silkworm eggs from Mulberry farms pretty soon here and raise them up.

yes, very easy to breed
gutloaded superworms can form up to 20% of a chameleons diet.

good idea also adding in silkworms, and as many other additional prey items as you can.

Thank you, I am trying to give her a good variety of healthy foods. As I said before I already have crickets, dubia, and supers. And of course the occasional wax worm :D lol But hopefully I can order the eggs here this next paycheck and get them going for her and all my other reptiles. :)

That's all my guy will eat other then hornworms when I can get them .the weird thing about my guy is if he is out in his out door cage he will eat a few crickets but in his indoor cage he won't even look at them
