What Camera are you using?

After looking at all the nice pics you guys have been posting I've decided I need a more pro camera and some photo shooting tips.

So what kind of camera are you guys using? Any ideas on how to set up a mini cham photo studio?

I use a D50 until I dig up enough funds for the nifty new D5000. I usually use a 2x lens cap on a normal 18-55 Lens to get the closer shots.

My gear:

Canon Rebel XSi DSLR
Canon 100mm f2.8 Macro lens
Canon 50-250mm IS lens
Canon 18-55mm IS lense
Slik Tripod

Coming on in 2 days:

Canon 430EXII Flash
Lumiquest Quik Bounce

This camera stuff gets addicting....:rolleyes::p

I'm using a Canon G9 "point a shoot".
clearly not a pro SLR camera.

IMHO, even a crappy point and shoot can take wonderful pics.
I'll be posting more shots in a moment, so you can see what you can get with just a good P&S camera.

Baller! LOL

I'm using a 10MP Canon DSLR Xti all stock. Can't afford anything for it lol

Just an old simple Finepix F10 pocket camera but only use the manual features. Can't fault it and most think the photos are from an DSLR too... Its all about the photographer rather than the camera IMO.

My setup is a little old school but it still takes some good pictures:

Camera Bodies:
35mm: Canon EOS 50(E) (Elan II(E)) w/battery pack
DSLR: Canon EOS Digital Rebel (300D) w/battery pack

Lenses:
Canon EF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 V USM
Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM

Strobes:
Canon Speedlite 550EX
Canon MT-24EX Macro Twin Lite

I'm planning on updating my DSLR body to a Canon EOS 5D Mark II w/battery pack in the late summer/early fall. Hopefully add a few L lenses shortly there after as well.

Nice gear Chris.:) I too would love to own some L's one day:rolleyes: I'd love to see nothing but USM's in my bag in the near future as well. I want to make a homemade soft box for macro, as rings and twins are pretty pricey. I'm sure you go on Canon's forum "POTN", I love that place.:) Do you have a site where you host your photos, I'd love to see them!:)

LOL I've been on POTN for a few months. I just can't find any lenses :(

D40. im so glad i got my camera. Point and shoot hold no light to a SLR, or DSLR ect.

i can finally get those crystal clear pics!

What do you want to shoot and where?

My chams baby! what else LOL. I just can't figure out all the lighting and f.2 crap for some reason so my shots always come out like crap. Never crisp on any of them but I hope that changes when my tripod and remote come for my camera. but I don't think I could shoot the chams in their cages with a 50" tripod with the stock lens I have since it doesn't zoom that far.

Actually I've never been on POTN but I'll check it out. I'm working on setting up a personal website that will have among other things some of my photography, my high-speed feeding videos, etc. For now, you can check out my flickr account. It has some of my photos but not nearly all of it, especially my chameleon stuff: http://www.flickr.com/photos/parsonii2002/sets/

What lense have you been using? You got some decent shots from what I have seen. Lenses are just pieces of the puzzle in quality shots. If you want better close ups get a 75-300mm or a 55-250mm lens, or take the plunge and get a dedicated macro lens, like the 100mm macro from canon. I get creative and use clamp lamps and flashlights to get proper lighting almost all the time. The onboard flash is pretty harsh for most shots, you can make a desuser with a piece of paper by placing it over the flash. You have the book "Understanding Exposure" its all there for the taking, you just have to read it mate!:D:rolleyes::D

call me if you want.
