What do you think?

So one of Tony's plants got infested with bugs that I'm sure probably came from the Christmas tree. I took it out once and repotted at the middle of December but they seem to have come back so I took the plant out. I'm wondering do you guys think the cage is fine with just one plant or should I get him a new one/try replanting again? I feel bad lol. I think it's barren now.

For some reason my computer hates pictures at the moment and won't let me look at them at all. However from the thumbnails it looks ok? But I always like my cages super hard to find chameleons in XD. What kind of bugs were they?

Lol. Same. That's why I feel bad. There's a since of pride in that moment where you panic and think "oh my gosh did I leave the cage open?! Where are-oh there you are! You just drinking some water buddy?" Lol.

The bugs were aphids. I did some googling and it said they live on Christmas trees and produce at a high rate in really cold weather, which it has been recently in California. I found a really old thread on here of this happening to someone else and from what I read they just infest the plants and eat them up but does no particular harm to the chameleon besides looking like ticks and giving the owner a panic attack. Still they multiply like crazy so once you see a few it's probably already too late.

Plant looks great! I have an Umbrella plant that is still filling up the lower and mid parts of the enclosure. I can't wait until it grows more to fill in the entire area. I have it supplemented with fake vines in the meantime. The second day we had our little guy, I could not find him anywhere! So scared he got out, I opened the cage and did a more thorough search, only to find him right in front of my face the whole time just below where I was looking. Sneaky sneakses.

Haha. That used to be me looking for Tony all the time when I first got him. He'd always be right in front of my face. It's funny now to see people look for him when I clearly see him and have to point him out.

i got the same exact problem. ive removed parts of the plants where they have clung to and wiped the leaves down in one cage but now theyre in another. i refuse to get rid of my plants.

I think it was the jeweled chameleons, one of the specifically hard to raise Fucifer sub species does much better in captivity if they are raised on aphids. Though this doesn't mean they will thrive with only that XD

I hear you man. They are a pain but I'm glad to know they aren't harmful and that you can actually feed them to babies.
