What is necessary on a background?

I am building an enclosure. All of the examples I see have bumpy backgrounds/dark backgrounds. I have sealed the interior with flex seal in white. As long as I put in lots of climbing options do I have to cover up the white background? I thought it might be more visually appealing to see the chameleon and plants against a white background...

The background color IMO is a personal choice. Funny story but all of my backgrounds are cheap foam rubber yoga mats and kind of like a neon green 🤷‍♂️

I spent a small fortune in time and $$ creating sculpted foam backgrounds covered with coco coir…only to later decide that I hated how dark it made everything. I got rid of those and now just have the screen with a light blue cloudy sky print shower curtain behind the back and sides. I was going to go with a forest print, but then recalled a biologist saying that their view is mostly the sky.

I did a photo background from pet backdrops with the two sides white. I really like it because the white sides reflects the light very well and the forest pic in the background gives it a little visual interest.
Wondering are they cham approved also? 😂 Have you noticed any changes in them?

I have seen them trying to climb on the trees in the background a few times. Which honestly made me sad a little. They are excellent backgrounds though. I’ll be doing all my enclosures with them eventually.

Like Miss Skittles I tape the vinyl to the outside of the frame on the back and one side. I use fireproof vinyl movie posters that you can’t get on the market. I also put one under the cage covering the whole table with up turned edges on the back and sides to catch any water. Works great! The humidity stays good, the electrical wires are protected, and no water gets to the ground. As long as it’s on the outside you don’t have to worry about it being Cham safe.

I was looking at their site. Do you have the cling, adhesive or non-adhesive type? I want to apply mine to the inside glass but not sure if they have the right option. Was yours on the inside?
Thanks!

You could put it inside the cage but I’m not sure how hard it will be to clean then.
Does he flare up at his reflection?

He doesn’t flare up but is distracted by it a lot. I’ll be feeding him a worm and he will see the worm but then look at the glass reflection and I think maybe it confuses him. I looked at the pet backgrounds site but it was around $50 for a background! I was hoping to find a cling or stick on background.
