What is this bump?

Don't want to get into drama here but for the chameleons sake I got sent this Male with a bump that is protruding from its side. I am going to take him to a specialist but I want to have an idea what it can be. I have never had anything like this before with my any of my chams. Was sent him with promise of perfect health among other things. Looks odd to me. It's off centered on his left side. He's eating drinking, 6 months old not acting sickly but it's been less then two days.

That looks strange. Is it like a bump on the skin or is it more like something from inside him is trying to poke through the skin? A vet visit is a good idea regardless.

I'm interested in seeing more pictures that are closer up.

Is it below the skin? I see the knot protruding but cant see the actual lump very well. It could be any number of things: bacterial skin infection, fungal skin infection, broken rib, etc...

If it is some form of skin infection then you will need samples taken and cultures will have to be run to determine exactly what it is. Then they can prescribe a treatment regimen. If he has a health guarantee you may want to talk about a refund with the seller. From what Ive heard some skin issues(if thats what it is) are a pita to treat.

Also make sure to quarantine that guy til you know what your dealing with. You dont want to accidentally cross contaminate anything from his cage to another cham. I'd wear latex gloves when handling him at all times. Jmpo....

We contacted the seller, he pretty much said he didn't have that when he sent him. No help. It's been a nightmare. The lump is soft, like a growth. He is separated from my colony. Driving around now, I'm going to take more pics and post later.

from the size of it and the fact that the bump is soft i guess it could be an abscess .
i am not a specialist but this is what i think it could be .

with the lump being soft as you describe, the vet will likely do a fine needle aspirate and draw some cells out with a syringe to see what's going on under the microscope. and the procedure would be a good idea.

my cham had the exact lump but myn were broken ribs that he got from falling and it wasnt soft

The person who said he didn't have that before shipping... Yeah they are liars and you should go on the boi on fauna and discredit them or threaten the person and make them either pay for vet bills or refund you and pay for him to be shipped back. I know care for the chameleon is important but you didn't knowingly buy a sick chameleon nor did you want one I am sure.

But yes please keep us posting on him. Also doesn't look to faly to me :/?

Any updates on this poor guy? Forget the locale crap and dont worry about it for now. I'd focus on finding out what is going on with the cham. You dont want to let that go too long the sooner its identified the sooner you can start getting the proper meds to address the issue.

Yeah guess the locale isn't the most urgent point. I am also curious about this story and how the guy is doing.

Hey bro before u take him to the vet ask reptiracks if they will pay for the vet because he said they were healthy ,did u try to get your money back? Poseidon and Hades aren't those Texas ranger faly.? Ask. T R he is an honest guy they might be ch not cb .u should pm him. Let us know what happened.also yes his health comes first but u should not forget about the identifiying the locale before too much time goes by.
