What is this?

I found this today on one of my shelves where I have all my animals at. I had the dripper going and it made a little puddle of water on the second shelf underneath my chameleons cage and I found this just in the water. Can anyone tell me what this is and if this is a parasite I will have to take my chameleons to the vet soon.

You would think it looks like an earthworm, but then why can you see peices of brown stuff inside it? Earthworms don't look like that.

Can you take the worm-thing and mush it? See what's inside it?

You might want to take samples of all your chams poop and get a fecal done to be sure ....

Umm I could but I was thinking I shouldn't mess with it just incase I needed to take it somewhere to get it checked out or something.

Yeah .. do you still have access to the latest poops your chams have taken? You might want to get them checked ..

It looks like an earthworm to me..perhaps it came out of one of your plants..? The brown stuff inside is just dirt or poop or whatever earthworms eat. You can often see the stuff inside them when they are small worms..or water logged.

It could've came out of my ficus plant I have in one of my cages. The ficus I got was from chameleonsonly and they use no pesticides on their plants so maybe there are a few worms in there. Should I try to find more worms in the pot?

Does it move? I mean, it looks hydrated .. worms thrive on dampness. If it doesn't move, it might have come from one of the chams.

Just to be safe, look in the soil... you never know.

You can look if you want to, but honestly they wont cause any harm to anything. Earthworms are good for plants..and on the rare chance your cham eats one..no pesticides so there will be no problem.

There are times I find earthworms in sealed bags of soil from Home Depot! So they can get in anywhere

It doesn't move at all. All of my chameleons act normal and eat readily so they haven't been acting sick or anything.

I think it looks like half an earthworm...if finding another earthworm helps you be sure that's what it is, it seems worth a bit of poking around.

I'm going to look around. Also can earthworms drown? I think it is dead because it drown.
Oh yes. I feed my box turtle earth worms in his water dish so they dont get dirt all over the, and they eventually drown if he doesnt eat them. Looks like an earth worm to me. Personally, I wouldnt worry about it and just keep an eye on my cham to watch for any weird behavior. If the rest of the poop looks fine, then hes probably okay.

I also just had the same thing this morning. I was like what the >>>>>> is that. looks like an earthworm but I have had my setup for over two months and now it shows up lol. I will keep an eye out to see if their is more.
