There is a laying bin 12 inches deep its a plant pot filled with damp reptile friendly sand she sits in it from time to time

This is the laying pot
It could be a few things. You say she was fine 48 hrs ago but she could have been getting sick slowly and it finally got the best of her. The forum has a form like thing in medical. Fill that out, so everybody can have a frame of reference. Then go get those wood chips out a there and hope she didn't get a little piece stuck to her tomgue, somehow. They look good but somebody I know just spent $1000 getting piece of wood out of her pets intestine. Thankfully her little girl is still alive. Has she eaten in the last 2 days? Try to find her poo if she did. That will get you started. And, I always say this, time is your enemy. They deteriorate very fast.

Thankyou for your advice! I was told from the pet store the wood chips are good but obviously they say more than they know! She has eaten yes everything looks fine in her poo. What substrate do you reccomend?

I don't use any. I have a 4" plastic bin w screen stretched over it. Sometimes they get down there and walk on the screen but not often. The bin holds water from the drip and misting. You have stuff on the floor of your cage. I would just remove the chips and keep your floor clean. What color is the flooring?

So, it's kind of small w front opening French doors like things? You know, it actually could be that she isn't getting enough fresh air and it's caused a respatory issue. Adult chams need alot of fresh air and it could be that she just got enough size on her that she needs a screen cage. If she were mine, I would take a hard look at the pros and cons of glass vs screen. I have a little one in glass but I'll move him when he gets bigger with bigger needs. Idk. Think about it and do some research. If he has a response problem you will see his saliva look thick like cotton mouth. Also, he hay inhale or exhale like a sigh.

Yes i though that which is why i have placed the vivarium close to a window with plenty of ventilation...the main problem with a screen cage is temperature control. Because i live in Manchester in the uk the weather is pretty cold most of the time and is very unpredictable.

Placing the cage by a cold window will make things worse. The drafts will cause a URI, when we say they need fresh air we mean they need ventilation. IE a screen cage.

There is no draft from the window. Also where i live it is not possible to get a screen setup as manchesters weather is unpredictable snd cold most of the time

You should be fine with your viv. Just make your Temps and humidity are in check. If possible try planting your viv. I've heard it's better. Now to your ?. In the last month has she eaten something or did she act funny for a short period of time then go back to her happy self? Other possibility is that she has become gravid.

When in doubt take to a trusted vet.

That doesn't even make any sense. If the window is open to give you more ventilation then there is a draft. That is what a draft is wind blowing through a window ect.

So if you don't have a draft, then you don't have increased ventilation. So then there is no point anyway.

At any rate putting it by a window will just raise and lower temps. Especially in glass, the sun beating on it even when cold outside will raise the cages temp.

Honestly like has been said just get a screen cage. If you want sides sealed to hold temps ect. Then buy a screen cage and make 3 sides PVC with a door screen.

But it really depends on your viv some work some don't. Does your has a glass panel under the door or screen? If screen I have seen those used. If glass that is not going to work period.

Okay I just looked up. If you have an exp terra, i.e. you don't have the screen bottom. That isn't going work, those thing don't have enough ventilation imo. The little strip vent is good for frogs no chams. After seeing your other thread and the fact you had this cham basking at 40c, I really want to urge you to look at the care sheet here on the forums.
