Im getting a female vieled chameleon thats 5 months old. I live in Houston and the average temprature of my house is usually 72º. I still need a basking light, and i dont know which kind i need. I also need a fixture for the light. Im housing Eva in a 18x18x36 Reptibrezze.

They have specialty bulbs at pet stores and those will work just fine if you want to pay 5x the price. I live in DFW and its around the same temp and I use a regular 75w house bulb. (not the curly one :) ) These work exactly the same and are a lot less expensive. As for the fixture you can buy domes off some of our sponsors. Personally i like these: http://lllreptile.com/store/catalog...es/-/zoo-med-regular-black-ceramic-clip-lamp/

Good luck with your chameleon! :)

I live in the BEaumont area and a regular 75w incandescent bulb should be fine in that size cage .I Use a 90 watt in my 24x24x42. Works fine.

You dont need to buy any of those expensive speciality basking bulbs.

Just use a regular house bulb.

The wattage used will depend what temperature the put off.

it varies cage to cage and area to area. so play around with the wattages till you get the preferred basking temp.
