What sex is my panther chameleon?!?!

Yeah it's weird that's why I'm confused about the sex.

Wow..... Still really hard to tell from that pic too. It has a thick tail base compared to a female, but due to the angle its bent down causing a distortion

It does look really small for 5 months ( you don't want me to post my 5 month old Cham). Lol.

Is yours a Sambava? It looks like it( well from the tiny pix on my cell phone) The ones I have seen do tend to be a lil slow on growth and coloring.

Where did you get him from? And how long has he/she been in your care?

I'm not sure what type he-she is. I've actually been trying to find that out myself!
I got it special ordered from a good friend who works as a manager at Petco. Haha laugh if you will cuz I know that may have not been the best place to get it.
I've had him in my care since September!

If that cham is 5 months old, i would really like to know more about the way you are caring for it. Please tell us what type of food you are feeding and how much. What supplements you are using and how often, and what lighting are you using. I'm curious because my 2 month old panthers are about that big. Something might be wrong here and we might be able to help you fix it.

Danny

Holy crap haha.
Well to begin I'm using an 18x18x26 exo terra glass terrarium with Zilla bark in the bottom. I have plastic and silk plants flourishing though out the cage. I have an exo terra monsoon hooked up with three nozzles that must every hour for 15 seconds. I also have a zoo med humidifier running 24/7 ( all of which are using arrowhead brand water). I have a digital hygrometer and thermometer fed into the top of the cage keeping the humidity around 70-80 and the temperature around 80 at the top and cooler at the bottom. Next I'm using two 26watt exo terra UVB bulbs making sure I replace them every six months as well as an all living things 100 watt heat emitter.
At about 12 at night I turn off the UVB light but NOT the heat. He-she eats everyday after I get off work around 4pm. I hold tweezers out with a small cricket dusted with fluckers vitamin powder three times to insure its eating. Then I dish up about 10 more and let them roam the cage. Yes I see him drink water often and I love handling him at least once a day making sure my hands are clean and such.
I live in Bakersfield, California. Oh and I don't know much about the guy except that I got him special ordered from a close frien who's a manager at Petco.
Is that enough info??

Oh and I don't have much history on him except his behavior hasn't changed since I got him in September. He's always really perky and active. The cage is about three feet off of the ground on my desk in my bedroom.
And I feed the crickets flukers high calcium cricket diet and flukers calcium cricket quencher.

OK........ You need to change some things here. I have to get to work soon & cant post all the things, But start with .......Get some Repashy Calcium Plus, Follow the instructions. & gut load Crix with Repashy Bug burger & Dino Fuel. This will be a simple & highly effective diet for now.;) "DO IT!":) Im sure someone will get to the cage issues..... Gotta go... Dave

I think its a male...... But still not 100% positive

Welcome to the forum. We have what you need.;)

Lights should be on a 12on 12off cycle. They need total darkness to sleep. You do not need the heat emmitter, unless your house gets below 50F at nite. The night time temp drop is good for them, stimulates appetite and such. So ditch the heat emitter.
Supplements should be: Calcium with no D3 at every feeding.
Multivitiman TWICE a month, calcium with D3 twice o month.
Basking temp should be 85F ish.
Take the wood bark out. Its just breeding bacteria, and if he shoots a cricket thats on it, and eats the wood it could kill him.
You should make these changes immediately.

That is a female chameleon if its 5months old.

5 month old male panther(ambilobe):

You should post lots of pics of your animals setup, as well as more of the animal.

Thanks everyone.
What should I replace with the bark? I tried using a substrate but i felt as if it made the cage muddy.
And where should I buy the supplies to hit load the crickets? And where I live it's below 40 at night outside and about 70 in my house. I use the heat emitter instead of an infrared bulb. I feel like it creates a nice basking spot at the top of the cage and a cooler place to rest at the bottom since the cage is so large.
Oh and I'll post pictures right away of the cage.
Is there an easy way to post pictures from an iPhone?

for gutloading, grocery store works.
youre feeding fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds. so a grocery store has it.
and i dont think you can upload photos from an i phone. but if you have tapatalk you might.

you arent replacing the bark, just removing it.
no substrate, bare floor. at most, reptile carpet .

I put a terrarium liner below the bark just to make it easier to clean, but I'll take the bark out asap. Why shouldnt I put anything in the bottom? Won't it pool up with water?
Okay I'll go my Vons then and get the food!
I've been told to put a potato in the crickets' cage because it serves as food and water? What I really need is the nutrients from the nuts and such, right?

Thanks everyone.

It's dry mix. But once made , it turns into a Gel. Like so vvv

Crickets LOVE it. I also still gutload with fruits and veggie scraps. (your feeders don't need the "prime" cut of fruits and vegies to be loaded effectively.)

and i have the same enclosure. This is my Set-Up. It could still use a live plant. But no substrait. I just lay papertowels to help with collecting the dripping and misting.
