When it's 104*F outside....

...where do your veileds seek shelter from the heat?

Both Fred and Jake live outside on the patio (it has a roof). They are both in their flower pots with their rear feet in the dirt in the soil and sorta sitting there with a front foot on the trunk of the plants. They aren't showing stress colors and the misters are running... Interesting how well veileds can survive the extremes!

It is amazing that chameleons on the Arabian Peninsula can survive the temperatures that they can. It regularly reaches over 140F in some areas during the summer.

'Glad to be inside'

Here is a photo from the melleri free range... I posted this on FB and my GF commented "Chris approves the use of air conditioning today" haha :D

Hey Kevin can't you just install a 1 inch deep swimming pool? Then they can take turns having a dip while the other does lifeguard duty.:D

I wonder how my guys are doing? I stuck at work today. Tomorrow is a worry too. Only suppose to be 100. I spent most of yesterday putting in auto-dippers for the parsonii. 4 daytime hours of dripping at 90 minutes 4 times a day. 10 ajustable dripping stations.

Yes but Kevin lives farther inland, isn't it at least 10 to 15 cooler at your house?

103 and 16% humidity when I got home at 6:00. Misters going full blast. Beaches are suppose to be 90 tomorrow. Have montanes inside with the AC going. I think my electric bill will look more like a month of July bill than a Oct..

Back in late june and then again in early july, here right on the cost of Brooklyn, my outside temps were 105F or above for 5 to 7 days at a time, and the rest of the summer was not much better.
No way I was taking my panthers outside...never mind my quads.

At least I wasn't so busy because I swear that some veileds had me on speed dial and would beg to come over to my chilly house...:)

Thankfully you live too far way or ill bet your guys would be calling me today while I was stuck at work. :p
You do give all your chams cell phones, don't ya?

Harry

I'm off tomorrow so I would be happy to swing by for a quick check up on your chams Steve :)

Dang, thats warmer than it was here at 6pm

Is the weather going nuts or what? i had snow a couple of weeks ago, today was 80 nag we are going to the low 90's this week. I am past understanding what is happening but is sure makes life rough on our electric bills and chameleons.:(

I'm down by the beach and it was in the mid 90's for a while today. Luckly I was home and had the misters going much of the time. I think it was rough for the Jacksons today. Hope this doesn't last too long.

It was 106 at my place. I had to move just a few of the chams to areas where there was more shade. My misters were on most of the afternoon. But surprisingly, the veileds, Jacksons and panthers handled it well. I didn't see any of the chams panting, so that is a good thing. Tomorrow will be a tougher challenge as it may be a couple degrees warmer and I will be at work and won't be able to check on them as I did today.

Here in jersey wasn't all that bad, it was 90's couldn't tell exactly because I was working and so was not home, but my panther did well from my understanding, had my parents and brothers checking up on him.

Wherever my veiled is, I'm sure he's loving the temps, alot better than he will be around November anyways ='(

i dont meen to be an echo in the room, but summoner what is the black foam your using as vines shown in your picture? and where could i get my hands on some?
