Where do you get crickets?

I need to start buying in bulk, going to the store every other day is getting old! Where do you guys buy in bulk? Where are the best deals?

I've had the best crickets from lllreptile. I have ordered bulk from crickets online (tophat cricket farm) and Mulberry Farms. With the cricket "crisis", I ordered my last shipment from lllreptile for a good price and the crix were awesome.

Crickets

I get mine from Ghanns Crickets, good price and good clean product. Lol It does get old going every other day.

I've ordered from three or four different places and for the money, Gahnn's Crickets (one of our sponsors) has the best prices. I personally believe there is a cricket "crisis" going on everywhere, so you take your chances buying them from anybody right now. I've also ordered from Premium Crickets and have been happy with them, although they are a bit higher than Gahnn's. I order roughly 5,000 - 6,000 crickets every two weeks, so I do buy in bulk.

geeez!, thanks for this post!...i was paying about $5 for about 30 crickets at the petshop!!! screw that! i just seen that i can can get 250 for 8.99 at Gahnn's Crickets........what a deal!

Dont forget about shipping $8-$10 with ghans, i like ghans and lllreptiles crickets. But dont be surprised if some or most die off from any vendor right now.
Theres a virus that is going around tha affects and kills crickets..
Oh and be prepared to store 250 crickets lol..

Yea, I go with Gahnns. Last two times I went with them and had an excellent survival rate. Before that I went with Reptile Food and half my supers were dead on arrival and it was just bad. And before that we used Mulberry Farms and they were great until now, that they don't have crickets anymore.

I've used lllreptile and bcrcricket both had good crickets and good shipping. Bcr is a bit more expensive, but it's faster in CA (next day for 4 bucks!) :D I dont have to ship crickets often though as my local pet store has crickets that rival online sources (in price and quantity.) I only have to go every week or two anyways now that my guys have slowed down a bit (and Hyperion won't eat any :( )

WOW that's a rip off! Usually pet stores are .10 cents per cricket. I was buying them every other day because my hubby and roommates didn't want the scorpion problem to come back by me keeping crickets. But it's such a waste of money to do it that way, so I'm doing what I want! lol!

PLUS! with the *NEW* addition coming tomorrow, it's much more worth it to buy in bulk!:D

What pet shop do you get your crix at?

Like most people have said Gahnns has some great crix, previous to the cricket melt down you could have probably gotten some cheper from a Cail farm that send them priority (but always end up being overnight due to how close they are. and they want the damn things out the trucks :) )

Chad, right now I'm picking up crickets at the Exotic Pets LV store, they are the only ones I know of that carry the tiny crickets. I bet they are tired of seeing me every other day too! lol

I just ordered 500 from Ghann's, now I just need to worry about keeping them. :)

I really like ReptileFood.com, I have never had a problem with them, their insects are super healthy, and if there is ever a problem, they will correct it right away.

Ken orders his from Dan at the Cricket Factory who I would have recommended you too, however most people (Dan included I believe) now source there crickets through Gahnns.

If you ever have any cham problems feel free to give us a call, always willing to lend a hand to a local.

aahh, so I just went straight to the source with Ghann's lol!

Thanks Chad! I'll make sure to get ahold of you if I need some help :)

Just FYI - I placed my order with Gahnns on Tuesday morning, and got an e-mail yesterday that they are out and half my shipment won't be sent. Now I will have to pay shipping charges to two different companies to get the supply I need, so the cricket supply is being severely hit by this virus. Good luck!

How are you storing them in Bulk? I have been doing that for a while as well, but recently ( shipments from both Ghann's and Fluker's ) have died within a week and attracted nasty black flies. 80-90% have died within 2-3 days and oh what a stink.

I store mine by size in the biggest plastic tubs you can buy. I have drilled small air holes into all four sides of the tubs and lid, and leave the lid partially off. I also put some oatmeal in the bottom and it helps control the smell. With the recent cricket virus, a lot of shipments have died off quickly. The last couple I've gotten from Premium Crickets have done really well, but I also completely clean all of my cricket tubs out (sterilize container and put new fresh egg cartons in) every 2-3 days. A lot of hassle and work but then again, healthy crickets = healthy critters! Good luck.

This is basically what I do as well. Tubs for each size, cleaned in between shipments. Fresh food, water crystals and hiding spots ( I also use Paper Towel tubes with the egg crate ). Only thing I don't do is put oatmeal on the bottom. Small ones seem to be doing fine, just hte 5/8" and up are dying quick and I'm finding little maggots/worms in there with them.:( Hate to keep buying local but may have to for a bit.

Weird. I ordered the day before yesterday and my crix should be here tomorrow...
