Where would I look for Walking Sticks?

I am well aware of who nick is. Maybe he just feels like Extension does, also nick doesn't sell anything that you can not get anywhere else. aside from Stick bugs and Katydids. He does also sell Roaches, Mantids, and stuff sure but all that stuff can be purchased in other places. Stick bugs and katydids can not.

However a misnomer to this whole thing is he may require you to have a permit to purchase them. As you can own them, IF you have a permit that is usually only granted to education professionals.

Again this is all assuming the laws have not changed. They may have, but I highly doubt it, as again they do not need to breed to have babies and can destroy local plants, fairly quickly. There has been issues in some places in the US of this exact thing happening.

If this is wrong or there is a loop hole nick would care to share that would be awesome. I would love to just buy some self reproducing ones from nick vs catching the native ones that need a male and female.

Right well I get that, but, I mean a quick google will show you they are illegal, as will the post I just linked. I would rather just buy some.

Yes a permit is pretty much impossible to get I think unless you are a teacher? IDK info is scarce. I did see a post on here saying the Mantis forums, has a whole section about them. You cant view the posts without being a member though, I applied to become a member.

We where just letting you know that you can buy the sticks from Nick Barta when he has them available, where not trying to argue whether or not it's legal illegal or what not, you asked, we answered, that's what this forum is for. Not a big deal.

Yes trying to breed walking sticks to feed the cham when older plus baby walking sticks.

I wouldn't think he would either, he seems like a stand up dude. However maybe he doesnt know? or the laws have changed? Of its not heavily enforced?

All I can say is he sells them, and everywhere on the internet says they are illegal in the states. That is all I know, I dont want to be in a position of keeping illegal bugs and risk the collection or the trouble it could bring.

LOL, not the FBI no. Aphis can does and will raid your house. Confiscate all insects and you can face huge fines and jail time. There is a few cases of this happening on Denoboards for this very insect. Now whether the people saying this are exaggerating or not is unknown and this was back in the early 2000s.

There are ton of other feeder u can breed,my chams loves them nice n juicy meat jus like alphakenc loves all the woman,who wants a skinny sticks that was so year of 2000 ,even the Barbie dolls are looking much nicer than a walking sticks

People wouldn't be raided by APHIS, if they weren't on public forums, making a big to do about the legality of insects, that if responsably maintained, are harmless, especially where it gets cold. Florida has a bunch of restrictions on roaches. If you cross state lines and bring some into your collection and keep your mouth shut, there's no risk. I don't advocate blatantly violating any laws, but I do advocate making the best, informed decision for yourself, not calling attention to Nick or possibly other members that have purchased from him, and making your decision quietly and off of public forums. These discussions are the type that cause needless trouble for people just trying to enjoy and enhance their hobby.

I find them here in Ohio in the bramble.. Basically any prickly bushes..
