Which to get? 6 month or 18 month

I am new here and will be getting my first Panther Chameleon. I found a guy on craigslist who is selling a couple with cages. With the space I have at the moment, the cage I would get would be an 18x18x36 eventually upgrading to a larger one. The options with the Panther is a 6 month or 18 month.

Which do you think is the best option? 6 month is $125 with cage, and the 18 month is $150 with cage. Lights and everything is also included.

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

Here is the cage:

first, the 18 month is way to big to be in that small cage.
and second, if it was me, id get the 6 month old. this way, hes ok in that cage for a few more months, and you can watch his colors come in even more. since they keep growing until they are 2 years old. JMO.

I agree, I really like the looks of the 6 month old. Right now the 18 month old is being housed in this cage.

The 6 month old looks like an ambilobe, and the price is super decent. I'd go for him, the other one doesn't look too hot, although it may be the photo. His eyes look sunken in (although I had a male who would sink his eyes in when he got really angry at you, so it may not always be an indication of illness).

Both look to be ambilobe. But I like the 6mo better too. Plus the 18 mo looks like his mouth is open and he may not be too friendly.

Sounds like a steal of a deal to me! I purchased a cage smaller than that with nothing in it for almost that price! And I would go with the 6 month old, give him some time to really grow on ya :D

They both look nice! But I would go for the 6 m! Also because he's not a fully grown chameleon he might adjust better to you and his new home! And he has a very cute little face!:D Great deal btw

U bar makes me think sambava for the 5 month. "Teen" sambavas can be incredibly blue until they are almost 24 months old.

Do you know their locales?

I'd get them both!

So I think I will be picking him up today or tomorrow as they are my days off. I have been emailing him like crazy trying to get as much info out of him as I can.

We were talking about crickets and he stated he feeds 4 every other day. From what I have researched I thought it was like 8 or more a day. What on average should a 6 month old be eating per day/week?

Since its a male, I would let him eat as many as he can.
Most males, 6 months old, should still be able to put away 8-15 crickets a day, depending on size of the bug.

So esentially, feed him dialy, and see how many he eats.
unless he starts to seriously over heat (which most chams dont do) then let him eat as much as he wants.

I would advise against feeding as much as he wants unless it's a reasonable amount. A slower grown, well kept chameleon is less likely to have health problems. Some chameleons will not stop eating because of the instinct to eat as much as you can while the "getting is good" so to speak.

Which is why i said ...unless he seriously starts to over eat.
hes only 6 months old, and still has alot more growing to do.

Besides, i havent heard of one cham on here who just keeps eating and eating and eating. Most will stop when they dont want anymore.
So unless hes consuming 25+crickets, i say let him eat...

Now I am confused, someone who also has a Chameleon for sale finally emailed me back.
He says it is a 2-3 month old Veiled. It comes with the Chameleon, cage, lights, plants, vitamins, all for $150.

Which would you get, the Panther or the Veiled.
