Actually no. You call them locks. "dread" was added to the term locks when slave traders were referring to west Africans because they "dreaded" dealing with the groups of Africans with locks because their spirit/will was extremely hard to break.

Wow, thats pretty interesting. I never knew that. I want to get dreads but am too afraid of what people will think I know, im kind of conforming. I think I might just do it though. I need to grow my hair out.

How on earth do you wash that? seriously, it must take forever to dry. I think if I wore my hair like that here, people in the street would shout 'get a bloody haircut mate', and 'Buy a comb'. Just think its a bad look. Tiny tight locks , like multiple tiny plaits looks better to me.

JoJackson, if you scroll back to my first post in this thread, you can check out my dreads. I think they are more your style.
They DO take forever to dry, btw, but they are very clean (depending on the person who has them) and there are a lot of misconceptions about them, unfortunately.
