Why Chameleons Change Colors

Hey guys. I haven't been on here in a few years but today I got in an argument on why chameleons change colors. Chameleons were brought up in the conversation and we eventually got to talking about why they change colors. I said they change colors to change mood and everyone else was saying I was so stupid and the reason they change colors is to camaflouge. Anybody have care to clear things up?

Sorry, I am editing this post! I originally tried to link a video from another thread, but I linked the wrong one, so I deleted it. There are many videos on you tube about how chameleons change colors, and it is not due to trying to blend into their surroundings. Your friends are wrong!
