I had to call Zoo Med because I bought a cage ( reptibreeze ) , and it did not have the latches in it - I was just going to buy some, but could not find the right hole size, so I called them to get some, in conversation, I told them about 2 cages I had that rusted, but only on the sides, not the fr/ and back - they asked if I would send a pic of the cages, so I did - they contacted me back, they are going to send me 2 brand new cages I just LOVE a company who takes care of their customers.

That's cool! I have heard of people in the UK getting replacements due to rusting as well.

You know a company is good when you are hoping something goes wrong so they will give you extra. Nothing is more annoying than when you can't get ahold of customer help

I called customer service, and they replaced 2 small doors (bottom), when the plastic pins broke. They were annoyed, but they came thru.

I called them first, about hinges - then I had to email pics of the cages, where I got them, receipts and how old they were - about a yr ago they changed the screen, so anything a yr old or newer has the new screen that wont rust - mine were part of the last run of the old screening - and it was not ALL the cages, just a certain run, I had bought 5 18 X 36 , only 2 rusted - but the one was realllly bad , it would make orange dust if you rubbed it , it came up because I had asked how to get the rust off w/ out damaging the cage- but even the paint was coming off the bottom of the real bad one - I thought it was so nice of them to stand behind the product

Thats good to hear! I may switch to their cages now or dragonstrand's. I don't have a reptibreeze now but I do have a DIY with rusting screen where the mister hits and then acts as a "dome", which btw Kai loves to drink from. Does anyone know if this can be harmful? And anyone else with DIY rust issues? I wonder if I should contact them or not. I don't want to be nit-picky, but if it can affect my cham then I will look to replace. Sorry for somewhat invading your thread.

I don't really know if its bad for them - mine were more rusted on the bottom, a bit on the lower sides, so they really never came in contact w/ the rust - but that is a good question - I also would like to know the answer - I would worry more of the eyes getting rust in them ?

Hopefully one of our amazing house vets will chime in Im only slightly concerned due to a tongue issue that recently came about, and since I just saw his exact water source I just kinda put that into the equation. I noticed the slight decline of power and accuracy over the past few weeks with absolutely no differences in supplementation or husbandry, so I upped his B's as soon as I saw this and today a fabulous difference! I have chemi-phobia so therefore forgot all those lovely fundamentals but Id be surprised if rust isn't going to affect them negatively. I will consult with my Chemistry guru and see what she says

Buyer beware! I got into a converstion a year or so ago with Ed at Kammer, about this. He asked me if I experienced rust with them, as he knew I used a lot of them exclusively. I did some research on them, asking Zoomed and others in the industry. The new ones will hold up to rust. One trick is to replace the screws with stainless ones, also. $3 will buy enough screws for 4-6 cages. Careful if seeing them online for cheaper than normal. It could be an old one. US Reptile sells the 30" for $51.00 and 36" for about $55. I have bought some from them at these prices, and they were the newer ones, if needed.
