Working on my first chameleon enclosure!

Hi guys, I've been preparing to get my first chameleon for a few weeks now, I'm going to get a panther chameleon. I recently started building my reptibreeze cage. I also have a question about the lightning though. It seems like I can get the basking spot to the required temperature but every other place in the enclosure seems to be around my room temperature 19-22 degrees celcius or 66-71 fahrenheit. I have a 50W basking spot light from exo terra. I was thinking about getting a 75W and just lower that branch that it would bask on, because right now the basking spot is kind of close to the lamp. Maybe this will also increase the temperature around the entire enclosure. What do you guys think?

Here is my progress so far:

Added some branches and installed my misting system. There is a big reptile expo near me next sunday, where I will buy my first chameleon. Any improvement to my cage required?

Looks good so far. A lot of horizontal branches is good to see. Maybe get a few vertical ones near the bottom so he can scale the planter and climb to the top.

Assuming the top of the big vine is his basking spot, that seems good, too.

As far as temps go, it is good to have a gradient in the enclosure.

I am still quite new to chameleons myself, I'm sure some other folks will chime in with some advice.

Happy keeping!

It looks like you have exposed dirt in your pots. You should put rocks over the dirt so your cham will not eat any of the dirt. Have you tested temps and humidity in your cage yet?

I think the light switch would work out just fine as long as the basking temp don't go too high. However you'll want to keep a good heat gradient. Your enclosure looks great! Any cham should be elated in there.

Thanks for the replies guys, it is much appreciated. I've covered the dirt with some rocks, it was on my to-do list but thanks for reminding me. Also added an extra nozzle so now I have 2, each one aimed at a different plant. The temperature of basking spot drops quite a bit once I put the misting system on, but raises back up to around 82-84 degrees Fahrenheit or 28-29 Celsius after a few minutes. It increases the humidity quite a bit up to 65-85% depending how long I keep it turned on. Basking spot is the bigger black vine in the picture indeed.
