World, Meet Proteus

I'm so happy you will be keeping Loki . He/she is just a baby too . They just can't be together that's workable . Lots of keepers have other pets . Cats, dog , birds , other lizard , snakes , sugar gliders etc. what happen I can't see ever happening agin . Please don't think I'm being insensitive . I just think your a wonderful keeper . You Can give a great home . I'm happy you won't be giving up .

Thank you. There will be no doubt that my cautious husbandry wI'll be in overdrive. I can't handle seeing his dark, empty cage. It is killing me. I hope it doesn't seem insensitive but we are headed to the Repticon show. No one will ever replace Proteus, ever.

I know it is so soon, but we found a Nosey Be male that is 11 months old who stole our hearts. He has been handled a lot, came right to me, and climbed onto my hat lol. He has a calm demeanor and looks great. My heart still hurts, but I couldn't help but feel it was meant to be. He came right to me, no signs of stress, and when we got him home he devoured 8 medium Crickets and drank straight from my syring for almost 30 minutes. He even held up his head to the syringe to drink.
No one can replace Proteus and I am grateful that he is no longer in pain. It was killing me seeing his viv. I am thankful for my husband suggesting we go to Repticon. It was hard (I cried so hard in the parking lot) but I think in a way, it was meant to be. We are thinking of naming him Viserion (GoT spoiler: Viserion is now an ice dragon) so it seemed fitting. He is not shy and even posed for the camera. He is in his carrier while my husband is adding extra protection and adjustments to the viv as well as thoroughly cleaning it. Am I an awful person for getting another Cham so quickly?

He looks like Septiceye :love: . Oh you just wait you think he already has your heart . If his demeanor is anything Like our boys omg you are in for a treat xox .

I love his demeanor and he is definitely not camera shy. What an amazing eater he is! We will schedule a vet visit for him next weekend just to make sure all is good. I never thought I would fall for a Nosey Be, but sometimes the Universe has other plans for us. I am also grateful that I didn't give up and that Proteus is in a safe place now where he is no longer suffering. He will always have a place in my heart.

I know we aren't supposed to discuss religion but in my faith, we honor all souls that have passed. He will always be honored and remembered. Telling his breeder was the hardest thing I have had to do. I am thankful my husband helped in that regard. I think Viserion was meant to be with us and his breeder was happy to see how fast he took to us.

Nosy bes are awesome . How did the breeder take it ? I believe the same as you do . All souls should be honored . I also agree this played out as should be . @Traildrifterphalanx i told the same . I'm sure you have seen his thread . He as well is an amazing keeper with tragic story's . Did all right with both his girls . Put so much time into research and setting , he honored both little girls and they will always be remembered . It was always meant for him to have V . I know yours is a bit different . Animal being whom he/she is . I'm happy you got him not at a pet store . He's beautiful.

I have followed his thread and the tragic loss of both his girls. It broke my heart. I will always miss him. His breeder was sad for us but I think he understands that we never meant for it to happen and how horrible we feel.
 
I'm so sorry that happened to you guys. I wish you the best of luck with your new guy. I'm sure things will work out much better. Now that you know of your cats interest, you can take all the necessary precautions. Enjoy your new cham and put all the guilt aside.

Thank you. Poor boy, I have already been peeking in on him and I know he is trying to sleep. I look forward to waking up and finding him ok. I know I will be like that with him for awhile. Not only does Loki have claw covers but he is confined to the bedroom with us when he cannot be completely supervised in Viserion's room.
I watched Viserion eat, check out his enclosure, cleaned his carrier, and watched him walk through his leaves to drink. Until his vet appointment next week I will be a hot mess. We are already setting up a nanny cam in his viv tomorrow as well that we can remotely access anytime, anywhere.

Thank all of you for giving me support and reassurance that i'm not a horrible cham mommy. I will be visiting Proteus soon to say my goodbyes (I couldn't do it today. My husband was sweet enough to take great care of placing him to rest). I really appreciate all the love and support during this awful and emotional time :love:
 
We had a FANTASTIC night! He slept in his umbrella. When we uncovered him, he was basking and he had some neat dark blue spots near his back. When he saw us, he walked towards us and his blues got lighter. He hasn't eaten yet, but he did eat a lot late yesterday. After his second misting in a little bit, we are going to release some food in his viv. We offered them in a bowl but he looked at us like we were on crack lol. He is used to hunting so that's what we will offer. He is a great drinker. What a huge relief!

Sounds like Viserion was soaking up some heat , just as he should have been Yay !!. I'm so happy this Am was a wonderful Am . :love:
