Worried about my Cham!

Heya:(

My cham looks on the water drips at the glass, sometimes drinks them... But sometimes just looking like she's thirsty.
I don't know if she's drinking enough water!:(

One of her urate was like 50-70% orange, the other one wasn't. (There's 2 urate poopies in there atm, that I can see)

I've got a dripper on sometimes, and she drinks from it, not all the time but quite often. It's just drips but I guess that's much for a cham!
Getting a mister soon but need help on my way there! Any tip/good ideas how to make my cham drink more?:(

/Thanks, Peter

If you have foliage in the cage place a dripper above it and find a leaf for it to hit steady, you can also make sure that her food (crickets etc are well hydrated) I noted that you said glass...chams and glass dont mix well, not only is it poor circulation, but some can actually see there own reflections and become stressed. With that said, if her poops are not white also check for sunken eyes, as that can be associated with poor hydration. if you post a pic and describe your setup more forum gurus will be able to better assist you, everyone on this forum is great :D

Oh, haven't got the money for one yet, might build my own later... Tho she's just some months atm, a small little prick haha:D I was so freakin' stupid that I didn't read and knew how hard these awesome chams are to have.:( Been reading stuffs for days and just wanna know everything...

One of the poops is all white  The other one is like, yeah 50-70% orange :c
Her eyes are fine and looks on everything hehe:D
You gave me an idea there... I'll put some water in my hand and then add a mealworm :D Then she HAS to get some water haha :D

Haven't got the money for what? A dripper? A cage? Confused.

She won't drink water from your hand guarranteed and if the mealworm is wet it may not stick to her tongue if she shoots at it.

Young chams dehydrate pretty fast, especially if the cage air is dry, so don't ignore this. Why do you think she's thirsty or not drinking enough? If you have a good bushy plant in the cage spray it well so there are lots of droplets on the leaves for her to lick.

For a mister/dripper... Tho mom bought a dripper, or well.. Ordered!:D

The drinking I know, but the wet mealworm thingie, didn't think of:(
She just has a bit sunken eyes during the night when she's like going to sleep. But at morning, evening and daytime the eyes are just fine!
Sprayed the bush alot to the left on this pic, usually does that but haven't observed long enough to see if she's drinking.
But now she's doing something strange... I "made" a dripper etc, now she's sitting on the "pipe" thingie? Quite strange that she sits there and not in the bushes or under the lamp? Any idea if it means something bad or she just likes the place? Or trying to get out? Should I remove it again and go with my old Dr Pepper dripper (works better, tho this looks more natural so she's like, drinking from it more of what I've seen).
But it strange because she used to sit in the bushes, and now she's just out here random... :(

Adding more plants etc, it's quite boring now... Sick right now so can't get out and get new stuffies for my little cham!
(Tell me if I need to resize the picture)

Edit: The bush in the left corner looks small but it is actually bigger somehow, just because I took the pic from above I guess)

Is the basking light inside the cage?if so im not to sure thats a good idea, you might want to put it on top, or should, the pictures very confusing. I would remove what you have in there or atleast that log and put a live, umbrella tree or something in there, and build around the live plant. That will help with humdity and water tends to bead up nicely on it. Further more if you make a homemade dripper with a bottle, purchase a bottle of water aquafina etc... that way the water wont have the smell of old soda or what not. And last but not least your cham will need a laying bin somewhere in the enclosure during her gravid period, so make sure you are ready for that (space wise etc.). JannB a senior member on the forum has a excellent blog that will help you with that.

you can hand mist with a sprayer bottle until you get the misting system. Also, I am not sure I like the positioning of your basking light? Can you take some other pics of the cage please. Your light does not look right the way you have it. Do you have a UVB light in the cage also?

great minds think alike ;)

Yeah it's inside.. But I'll put it on the cage, over her favourite spot!:)
And yes there's an UVB light hehe.
And the log thingie, yeah I will... Mom just brought it so had to fill in with something. But it isn't that populare since she never even walks on it hehe:D

When spraying... You just spray the plants/bushes? Or a bit in the "roof", walls etc?:)
It's like my birthday in lesser then a month or so and hopefully getting some money, or a misting system. So I'll get it then for my little cham.
Feel stupid as hell for not checking this earlier.. Just want the best for my Cham:( She seem to be a bit better tho, all green, spiral tail, fine eyes, white urate, normal poo.

So she needs like a pile of sand in the corner inside?
Isn't it like.. I need a big bin beside or something to put her in when she's going to lay eggs? (Or that's like what you meant?) My english is a bit rusty:eek:

Appreciate all your replies, the help I get from all of you means so much to me! Thanks:):D

my gosh yes by all means, get the basking light out and put it on top of the screen!. She could get burned!!!!. You need to have your basking temp in the low 80's so make sure you have a basking branch below the bulb but not too close. About 8 inches away or so. Put your thermometer on the branch to test the temp where your chameleon will sit to bask. You should be using around a 40 watt white household bulb. What kind of uvb light are you using? Are you sure your chameleon is a female? Does it not have the spurs on the back of its heels? If it has spurs then it is a male! Some people have males and think they are females and vice versa!

It has a net thingie infront of the lamp so she can't touch it:eek:

The UVB is "Repti glow 5.0 UVB" says 30% UVA, 5% UVB
And the bulb is from "Trixie, reptiland" (Something like that). 100w
Even got one of those things under my terrarium so it gets warmer.

It's like 70-75 f on the other side of the bulb
It doesn't have the spurs. It's a female for sure hehe :D

Yeah, I will.
There's a net thingie there so she can't touch the lamp  Thought of that alot, watching her from my computer ALOT because I'm always so worried something's going to happen' to her:(

Repti Glo UVB 5.0 "30% UVA, 5% UVB" (Something like that)
And the bulb is like, Trixie Reptiland 100w
Even got one of those under the terrarium that makes it warm. It's like 70f on the other side of the bulb. Her favourite place is like, on the other side of the bulb in the big bushes hehe :D
And yeah it's a female hehe, no spurs etc :D

Yeah that was a bit unnecessary, panic. :(

Ezrool is here to learn, and thats why were here; to help correct his mistakes. ;)

edit: Zoo meds big and little dripper are great. Thats what a lot of people use on here.

Yeah, he got pissed on me or something? And what's with the "Ezroll has no clue so do not listen to that poster!!!!"? What poster? I'm asking for advice, not giving advice... Perhaps you should read EVERYTHING before answering?
"Stupid post"? Well I don't know how you think but if wouldn't have made this post I wouldn't get this info that I've gotten. I want to be 100% sure of everything and get all the ideas and stuff I can get to make my cham feel good.
I know it was a bad move, never had a reptile before... Everyone makes mistakes. And my Cham seem to be fine to be honest... Her urate is now white, fine eyes, all green just walking around in the bushes etc. She can't touch the bask light bulb thingie because there's a net protecting it, also I'll be moving it up on the cage really soon. She cant' burn herself on it because she can't reach it, and there's the net thingie.

Agree with you pilot, thanks.
I'm here to learn... By people who knows how to have a Chameleon as good as possible. So I can treat my cham the same way.

Bought that thing I linked on my previous post, it's a super sell thingie here and it's out of order like everywhere!
As soon as I get some money I'm getting the big dripper too.

agreed (ths forum is for learning guys and helping one another) i originally posted for him to ask the gurus on here for advice and stuff, this is a great resource for info no matter experience level your at with cham keeping, lets give Ez a chance to learn and make the best of his chameleons enclosure, its a great start, and he is on here so it shows he is caring for his cham just like the rest of us. Ez, dont worry about certain things and feel free to ask any question you feel you need to, and share your opinions as well.

Im sorry Panic.. but it looks like the poor guy is doing research and we shouldn't get down on him about it. I understand your passion, and truthfulness, but lets cut him some slack and try to help him and give the best possible help we can offer, after all is said and done he needs your help Panic, share your ideas and expert knowledge so he to can become a great Cham keeper :)

Thank you! My little Cham also thank you:D;)
And yes, I care about my Cham alot. Been staying home every day so I can give her daily water and stuff untill I've got myself a mister. Or atleast the dripper.
I admit that I didn't really research alot about the chameleon. But enough to make her feel at home and feel good. Then there's these other extra things that improves it all.
Also been reading on internet for like, some days now... ALOT. And there's so many different answers and things. Some people just seem like they don't know a shit, just think they do.

And here, I mean... Like everyone owns a chameleon, and the videos people has and stuff. That's what I call a bond between an animal.
And I really want the best for my cham, had her for more then a week and she already means ALOT to me. She helps when you're a bit down, just look at her and poof, happy again! Hehe:D

The swedish forums they're like "Terrarium animals are to be look at, not touched... Only when going to the vet or fixing the enclosure".
But of course she's happy then? She'd be even more happy if I let her out in the wild (Where the yemen chameleon lives ofc).
But I still think the happiest chameleon are the ones with a bond with their owner, when the chameleon trusts you and feel safe around you without stress etc. That's what I think.. Probably ain't possible to find out either, but I think that's how it is.:)

Panic, it's more the way you said it... Felt a bit rude, sorry.

Ideas and knowledge would be great. From everyone! Specially the ones with the expert goodies;):D
Also you're not helping me after all, you're helping my Chameleon:(

Whoa... I see where panicbess got their name. :p

EZ: It seems clear to me that you're paying more than adequate attention to your cham. Don't be so hard on yourself. You have this forum to catch up on any research you may have skimped on. Your chameleon doesn't seem to be in any imminent danger as long as that basking lamp/bulb is shielded by the net and not too close to any areas accessible to the chameleon. Keep us updated! :D
