would it be ok to do this?

drastic measures

OK,
This may sound sneaky, but seems your in-law has a territorial problem. So this is my advice to you:

You leave at 7am
She leaves at 9am
SET YOUR TIMER AT 9:15AM so lights go on After she has gone out!
SET the lights to go off by 5:30 (or 15 minutes BEFORE whatever time she gets home.
BY then youre close to getting home and you can turn the lights yourself.
SEEMS drastic but she seems to be unreasonable and no matter what you do she won’t buck.

This is what I'm gonna start doing! Haha she flips about EVERYTHING and most of it is completely unreasonable. She started putting grocreies bags in the trash bag and got mad at me for throwing old food in the trash when it should be going inside the grocery bag, that is inside the trash..... I'm confused as to what she is ever thinking! She saw the receipt from when I got my chams, iguanas, and snakes lights and she screamed at me for the price because "you can go to the 99cent store and get a light bulb there"... Even my so to be sister in law started telling her to shut up. That I work for my money and can spend it as I please.
Needless to say, once my fiance comes home, I'm telling him we have to go before I go insane!

Im glad youre getting a timer and just setting it to go off/on when she wont be there to see it. Like also mentioned, getting a lock for your door may save you some headaches now and down the road if you are stuck in the situation for a while. Just make sure she doesnt get the key.
