Let's say money to get one is not an issue, could you handle it? I can't, I do not have enough experience and space to hold another big cage...so what about you?...
Been there done that...But if I had the opportunity to do it again i get rid off my wife first..
Personally, I don't see any good reason to justify supporting the black market trade in protected wildlife that reproduces very poorly in captivity. If a small, legal quota was established I would have a slightly different view but either way, the numbers taken from the wild will always be higher than those hatched in captivity and that is not "saving the species."
I believe with the small numbers that are sold each year a breeder that can hatch a clutch would meet the demand and reduce the amount imported.
Well, how far does the "black market" arm goes to? I am in California, could a C. Parsonii end up this far? If I know of a pair for sale, with shady origins and breed them, could the offspring be sold without any problems from the feds or any other agency?
Many of them that come with legal documents are indeed smuggled. They are smuggled to places like Indonesia where one might be able to pay off authorities for legal documents or have legal documents for a pair before the ban and pass them off as offspring from those. Once they have legal papers they can end up anywhere.
