Written agreement for breeder loan?

A local ball python breeder wants to borrow my YB male. I've talked with them in the past about ball pythons etc., and now they are looking to borrow my male BP.
I trust them, but not that well.

Does anyone have an example of a written agreement that I could write down and have them sign? I know it's just a ball python but still. I love my buddies!

Thanks a ton. :)

I guess BP breeding is an odd work, because when I asked how long she would need him, she said
"Probably no more then 2 months. I only need him to lock up with her 5 times to guarantee her taking. So it will be all up to him."

Not to mention I have never bred BPs before, and probably wouldn't have the proper set up for it, unfortunately. Ewwie. :p

I wouldn't do it, it is too long of time for your fella to be away. She would be better off purchasing a male for herself.

Two months? Maybe you should just bring him over five times? Does it work that way? I'm a newb.

I had a male nosy be live with me for several months, waiting for my girl to be ready to accept his advances. BUT there is a lot of trust between myself and the male's owner. Indeed he bought some of his animals from me. I dont think I would even consider such an arrangement if I did not 100% fully trust the individual. Also, if you arent such of the breeding process, how can you check up on their set-up and methods to ensure they are doing things in the best way? If you are feeling a written agreement is necessary, you probably dont fully trust them. Even with a written agreement, if they kill your animal, cause it to be ill, never give it back or whatever - do you have the resources to then litigate? Might be best to skip this endeavour.

Thanks guys. For the time being I will hold off on the breeder loan or until I can fully trust the breeder. In the mean time I will be looking up how to breed Ball Pythons so I can make sure everything is in check.

Thanks for the suggestions guys!

If you do decide to do it, maybe you can have something they give you so you know they won't run off?

A smart move Syn! The otherway around may work, adding a female or two to your balls cage requires nothing extra. You could just take notes re observations of matings for the owner, but again, If you plan on getting anything out of the deal, (babies) Get it on paper and signed, or simply get paid cash (stud fee) before you return the animal).
Bare in mind, there will be no garantee your male will oblige, or if he does, success.
Without proper acclimation/cooling etc and without another male or fresh male shed, it dosent always go so smoothly. It also depends on the acclimation and willingness/health of females, which is another important issue to consider.
Risk of disease, particularly viral like IBD (fatal) OPMV (fatal) or/and external parasites like mites, not to mention possible damage if they just dont get along.
Snake mating ,though generally not as harsh as lizards (rape) can get nasty if things go wrong. The slim possibility of cannibalism is another point.

I think you made a wise descision. :)

I would do a cash deposit then u get ur BP back and its in the same shape as when it left u return the deposit

Not quite as simple as that DJ, Diseases can have a long incubation period and be costly to test for/diagnose, and if its either of the two nasties above, its too late by the time you find out.

Since I posted this 3 days ago, I don't remember. Either way it doesn't matter, this thread has given me the information I need. Thanks.
