ok so I've had Kerropi for about 2 months and I had yet to actually SEE her eat until today! It was SO cool! I didnt catch a pic but heres some other pics of her just doin' her pyg thing. BTW can I get a confirmation on if she is really a SHE? I'm pretty sure because she has a lil tail and her back looks pretty flat but this is my first one so I just want to be sure, especaill before I get more

Well actually, now that I look at your pyg (and I don't have too much experience with them so I could be wrong) but looking at the length of the tail I would say male. Maybe someone else will weigh in, but that is my guess. Males have shorter tails than females, usually VERY noticably.

Please don't take my word for it though, someone else (like Julirs) could tell you for sure. I could even have it mixed up. Just tried looking it up for you too, and I couldn't find anything on my quick search, but will look deeper into it.

If I remember, a male has a longer tail and a female is short. If you look at the pic by name, Bubba has a longer tail. If I'm wrong, then this past 2 months I've had him and I didn't even know he's a girl then. I would need a new name for him. Hehehe.....

i also have a pygmy and HE is quite fun to keep. they are so fascinating and so small.
to my understanding, the males have shorter tails. mine has a short tail and has never displayed gravid behaviour or tried to dig, so i am under the assumption that he is male.
...just my experience...research it...

I heard the shorter tail thing too, for males. But the problem is, I did try to research it online and couldn't find a single definitive piece of information.

Edit: Ok. I just consulted with Juli (Julirs) who breeds pygs. She says that males have the longer tail! Which is the opposite of what I was told, but she is correct, since she is breeding them! So it looks like yours really IS a girl!

Thanx, I thought she was a girl but I had nothing to compare her to. Now I don't feel so bad for calling her a "her" this whole time, guess I had a feeling from the start! Hopefully I'll get better at cham photography and maybe even have some new additions to show off

Just kidding, the breeder would have worked that out for me, but it's always good to make a joke of one's ignorance! Pygs aren't really my specialty!

R. Brevicaudatus Sexing

Hey all the males have longer tails as well as hemipenal bulges. They also have a irregular dorsal crest.(They are also brighter and more distinct in color and pattern)

The females have shorter tails, no hemipenal bulges, and a more regular (smooth) dorsal crest. They get bigger than males as well.

See pics for detail. I was able to sex the 2 neonates at birth. These pics are of an adult male and female and 3 week old juveniles.
