Yellow giant parsons????

I have a couple Yellow Giants but they are just babies. There is quite a variation with the YG's. Some I find very attractive and others I don't care for the look so much. OE and YL generally look pretty much the same with in their color phase. There might be slight differences with some retaining more blues (OE) into adult hood.

I think if/when i step up to a Parson's I will be looking for a Yellow Giant.

@Action Jackson

Do you have any pictures of your YGs you could share?

Which variations of YGs are you referring to that you find attractive?

My YG's are still small and look like the other color variations at this age. There are YG pictures floating around but since they are not mine I probably shouldn't share them. Curtis Bird on FB has the best collection of YG's I've seen and actually has some killer ones for sale right now.

Some YG's have bright yellow heads and a drab colored body, some have more overall yellow head and body color, some have what we call the "rotten banana" body color which is kind of splotchy like a stressed out OE. There are some other variations too. YG's seem to have the most variations in color, perhaps they are collected from different areas idk.

@Action Jackson do you have a personal favorite? And do you have any good YL adult pictures?
I can't say I have are personal favorite. I like all chameleons for what they are. I do like the blues that OE's have as juveniles and even adults. I haven't raised YL's and YG's but I'm doing so now and I'll get to see how they will color up.

I'm really really liking the Calumma Parsonii Cristifers. They are a smaller sub species of Parsonii that get bigger than a large male Panther chameleon, 300-400g for males and 250g +- for females. They have a wide range of colors between individuals and are more active and better eaters in my experience. They are some of my favorites right now.

Most people keep them in small rooms for an adult, mine is going in at least a 5x3x7 foot enclosure as an adult. Huge feeders and tons of water...

That's for the normal ones btw. They are a big commitment, but not super difficult from my understanding. There's not much info on them outside of what the few people that keep them are willing to share.

Just be ready to have a few thousand saved for the chameleon, enclosure, water bills, feeders

@Action Jackson

One last question. What enclosure sizes would you recommend with keeping Normal Parsonii, and Cristerfers..?

My guidance would be to build as big as enclosure to practically fit the space you have available for Calumma parsonii spp. However when you are considering Yellow Giants this guidance of building as large as you can holds especially true. If you have a space that won't allow a small cat sized animal/reptile to roam its enclosure all day. Then your enclosure is too small.

Yellow Giants Parsonii are one of the biggest phases of Parsonii out there. There are a couple males here in the USA that are over the 1000 gram mark. While compared to the more commonly seen Orange Eye White Lips that normally average between 600-700's grams (adult males).

@Motherlode Chameleon are YGs larger than the others? Or is it just a name

Size varies between phase/type of Calumma parsonii spp. However Yellow Giants are one of the largest types of Parsonii. That meaning they require the largest enclosures.

Cool thank you, I heard yellow lips are on the larger side as well(which I'll be getting)? I like the look of the YLs and wanted a huge cham lol.

I agree that Parson's need big enclosures. I ththink no the bigger the enclosure the bigger they will grow. When you start getting multiple Parson's that is when space starts to become an issue.

I just took this picture of one of my YG babies. It just finished a shed yesterday and is showing some green on its body. I'm pretty sure this one is a female.

Awesome thanks, they grow very slow I see

I would not say that. I have had other chameleon species that have grown slower. That male is not that small actually. Look at the photos of this male on my Yellow Lip thread from May and compares to 3 months later and he has grown quite a bit.
