Is it possible to get salmonella infection from pet chameleons?

I'm not a huge fan of turtles. They're cute, but I wouldn't want one as a pet. How can they be kissed though? They hide themselves as soon as someone comes close xD I'm gonna show this thread to my mom so she can calm down xD she was too worried about what 'diseases' chameleons might carry.

    Does this poop look healthy?

I washed the hibiscus and the ficus bonsai. I cleaned off the store dirt, and replaced it with new unfertilized dirt. I washed the plants thoroughly (not with soap though). I washed it three times so I hope it washed off everything. I also put large rocks to cover the dirt. As for the laying...

    Alphys and her enclosure

It's alright, I really appreciate your advice! I already got a UVB bulb, I'm just looking for a lamp that will fit. I got lots of pothos and schefflera arboricola too, I'm in the process of cleaning them and putting them in. Her enclosure is next to a window. That window lets in the morning...

    Alphys and her enclosure

Yes, I just took the photo (it's night time here). I'm currently misting her 2-3 times a day. Also, you're a genius! I didn't think of making a circular cage! I was thinking about the roof too much I guess. It's alright, take your time! I'll be sure to mist her more :D

    Alphys and her enclosure

Almost two weeks ago, I posted this thread introducing Alphys, my female Veiled. Many asked for photos of her enclosure, so here you go! I know it lacks many things (proper UVB lighting, a screen roof, and other things), but I'm still working on it so hopefully I'll finish it soon. Any...

Is it possible to get salmonella infection from pet chameleons?

Well, since it's salmonella we're talking about. Cats and dogs are not known salmonella carriers soo yeah. Better safe than sorry, y'know?

Is it possible to get salmonella infection from pet chameleons?

Won't do it again. She was sitting on my head then she crawled down to the bed, so it wasn't intentional. Is there any particular reason why she shouldn't be around bedding? (reptile skin doesn't like fabric, etc..?)

    Does this poop look healthy?

I'm glad you're enjoying helping me :D Alphys is inside the house, specifically in my bedroom. Her enclosure is right next to the window. I bought her a Hibiscus yesterday and she's sitting on it right now, looking out the window :) The temperature readings are from inside the enclosure. I'll...

    Can veiled chameleons eat this?

Ah I don't know if it's possible to start a colony. I don't even know what kind of bug this is.

    Can veiled chameleons eat this?

I know it sounds ridiculous (taking care of the bug I mean), but where I am I can't easily get feeder bugs for Alphys. I won't feed her something harmful out of desperation of course, but if there was some way to make the available bugs safe and edible for her, then I won't hesitate to do it.

    Can veiled chameleons eat this?

That makes sense. Out of curiousity, is there a way to 'cleanse' it? Does feeding it for a week or so clear its system from harmful stuff?

    Can veiled chameleons eat this?

I found this bug in the back yard. It seems injured because one of its legs are broken..? I assume my cat hit it or something. Can my chameleon Alphys eat this? Is it gutload-able?

Is it possible to get salmonella infection from pet chameleons?

As the title says, can humans get salmonella infection from chameleons? I always wash my hands with soap thoroughly for 10 seconds after handling my chameleon Alphys. I wear gloves when cleaning her enclosure. I also have a big bottle of disinfectant I use after every handling or cleaning. I...

My chameleon sleeps like hes in a coma!

I'm not an expert (I got my chameleon Alphys about a week ago too!), but I was told that it could be from dehydration. Alphys is also doing the same thing although less frequently now. I kept misting her enclosure for days and she's a bit better now. You might wanna stick around until someone...

My first pet chameleon (need advice)

I just measured her, but she won't sit still so I couldn't take a photo. She is 12-13 inches long.

Food source in Saudi Arabia (Western Province)

Of course, I'll be sure to check in here before I make any important decisions regarding Alphys's health. I gave the Falcon Center a call, but no answer. I assume they're closed (it's noon here), so I'm saving their number and trying later. Are any human grade calcium pills ok? It should be...

My first pet chameleon (need advice)

Thank you! Joining this forum really helped me! When I saw how bad Alphys was (dehydration and no proper feeding), I was so scared and I didn't want to give up on her. The help I received here from jajeanpierre and many others really helped me and Alphys. I hope I can someday be as knowledgeable...

My first pet chameleon (need advice)

Thank you so much! A friend of mine is currently in North America, so I'll let them order some for me. Thanks for the mailing offer, though! I'll post a picture of her size as soon as possible. As for the Falcon Center, I'm about to call them. I am really really thankful for your advice and...
