You made a great choice. I've been raising my male veiled since he was only about 1.5 months old and he's doing great. Veiled's are a good, hardy species and will give you much enjoyment. Tonnes of personality and some can be interacted with well, like hand feeding. Good luck!
Thanks Julirs. I did indeed get a tracking number. The owner of the site did what I figured he would and sent my guy at the end of the day to minimize his time in transit. I can't wait to get him tomorrow. He looked completely righteous in his pics.
@MsBrit, I will gladly post pics once I...
Hi guys thanks. I'm aware that Jackson's need a bit more humidity, thankfully the enclosure I'm going to have him in seems to retain a bit more than my veiled's. I didn't know FLChams was so reputable. Although I have yet to receive any correspondence regarding a tracking number or a shipment...
Well I decided to return my little guy who wasn't eating anything and I couldn't figure out why. So I got my money back from PetSmart and bought a 4 month old Jackson's from FLChams.com. The owner of the site seemed like a good man and provided me with good information. He's going to be my...
An adult veiled could possibly eat maybe 3 adult locusts for a day. I'm still somewhat new to keeping chameleons, but you don't want to feed too much to an adult cham. I would keep the limit to maybe 3 locusts. Perhaps 4 or more if people here recommend. I have a young veiled (Yemen) who is...
I don't think they were trying to make a sale. When I was talking to the manager she seemed generally concerned about his health and habits. I was told to bring him back to the store and they would try to get him better. Then i would have first dibs on him again. I'll have to see what happens.
Hi Ponders, that might be worth a try. What I don't understand is PetSmart said he loved eating crickets in the store, so I'll have to figure something out. Your suggestion is duly noted, thanks. :)
Oh yes he's not eating anything at all. The crickets that I put in his cage are all still accounted for. His 14 day vet guarantee from PetSmart expires 1 week from today, so I'll give him until Saturday. But if I can't figure out what's wrong, and nothing seems to be, I'll have to take him back. :(
Thanks mczoo, he's still reluctant to eat. Although he took a few things yesterday he hasn't responded at all to food items today. I just don't get it, and truth be told I'm at the end of my rope trying to figure out this little guy. He apparently ate fine at the store I got him from, but even...
I don't know if people here who responded to my other post about my new baby Jackson not eating, but I got him to eat today. I found the problem was a lack of light. The enclosure I have him in has thick mesh walls that don't let in a lot of light. So I installed a small 13" fluorescent fixture...
Yay he's starting to eat now! I got him to take a small cricket and a couple of moths. I added a flourescent light that i got from Walmart and increased the brightness in his enclosure. I figured the light level wasn't high enough to simulate daytime levels so he may have lethargic for that reason.
Well it's been a week, and he's still not eating. Could it be his enclosure's too big or something? He drinks just fine and he climbs all over, but it just refuses to take food of any sort. And I confirmed with the manager of the PetSmaryt I bought him at that he ate lots of crickets when they...
Hi pardon the lateness of my reply, but I'm collecting the swords of the Captains and major players. They all have unique swords, like Rukia's Sode no Shirayuki, and Ichigo's Tensa Zangetsu.
That's great Molly. I'm still waiting for my Jackson to get used to his enclosure so he'll eat. It's been about 4 days since I got him in it, but he still doesn't seem interested in eating. I guess he's still getting used to it. He took a mealworm 2 days ago, but he mostly crawls around and bit...
I am indeed a fan of Bleach. I've even taken to collecting the swords of the various Shinigami that reside in Soul Society. I also find the names refreshingly original. :)
Very cool, Molly I also got a baby Jackson's this weekend. It took me a few days but I'm calling him Zaraki, and I estimate he's maybe 1 or 2 months old cause he's really small. A bit smaller than my veiled chameleon (Grimmjow) back in October. I love these guys. :)
Wow sorry to hear that. I'd never heard of that breed so i looked it up and was quite unique. I'm new to chameleon keeping as well, so I just hope my veiled and Jackson's don't die on me so suddenly...
Yeah that would be my guess. I looked up the latin species name and all the pieces seem to fit. He's a handsome little guy anyways, and I've decided to name him Zaraki. :)
