I just wanted to post a thank you to everyone of you that helped me out. These are BY FAR, the best forums I've been a part of. The help has been truly amazing. So thanks again all, I hope I will be able to contribute as I advance in the hobby.

Anyways, because of all of you, I ordered my first chameleon today from Lost Lake Chameleons. I am a bit nervous since I have never ordered a live animal from the Internet. But I am sure all will go well.

I decided to get a male veiled, and Josh said I will get him Thursday morning...

I'm even taking the morning off to get that little sucker.

I'll post pics when I get him, and thanks again! I'm sure I'll be needing more help when he comes...

great choice of buyer. no worries lost lake is a very repetable breeder and i too have a male veiled.

YAAAAAAAAAAY great first choice also. I was a little worried about ordering online but as long as you buy from a reputable breeder it should turn out good. I havent ordered anything from Lost Lake but he has some beauties. It is so exciting opening the package to find a chameleon pop out:eek:

I've never ordered from him, but he has the most unusual lookin WC veileds I've ever seen. The ones on his site are fufl of reds. How old is the one you ordered?

He is a four month old veiled, I thought about getting the cheaper 2 month old but heard they can be a bit more sensitive, probably not a good choice for my first cham...

He did have some amazing WC veileds... wish those were in my budget!

Decided not to go with the rudis? Great choice veileds are great as well

Well, I had heard repeatedly that starting with a montane species probably isn't the greatest idea, especially since I can only keep humidity between 55 and 60%. So that's the main reason, also it was hard to find CB rudis in a reasonable price range.

you gonna love your veiled.
veiled is such a cool animal.

and as a word of caution to not freak out, your veiled probably gonna hate you, hiss at you, and try to bite you ( It's kinda like raising a teenager :p)

You made a good choice with the veiled. Get some exp. first and then go for the harder to keep species. I just ventured into a camaroon sailfin a couple of months ago and it's kind of like learning all over again. veileds are great hardy chameleons with lots of personality. Good luck. David

You made a great choice. I've been raising my male veiled since he was only about 1.5 months old and he's doing great. Veiled's are a good, hardy species and will give you much enjoyment. Tonnes of personality and some can be interacted with well, like hand feeding. Good luck!

Good Luck!! I recently got my first cham (two veiled) and they have been a learning experience.
I can't wait to see pics of your new guy!:)

Chukka - Good luck with your new veiled- I know you made a wise choice. Lost lake has some beautiful chameleons- always posting awesome pictures!!! Maybe you will be ready for a cb rudis on down the road. I will keep you in mind when mine give birth!

Hey thanks, everyone. I am very excited, and glad I made a good choice.

And reptimom, I would love to get a hold of some rudis one day... I am already getting obsessed and don't even have a chameleon yet... My wife will hate me!

I will surely post pics tomorrow, if the suspense doesn't kill me first
