My boy is going through the same phase I think.. Drinks no problem, has zero interest in crickets and will eat the occasional hornworm or superworm.. Hoping he passes this phase soon, still looks healthy and when he does eat a superworm or hornworm his tongue looks fine
You could probably get away with the exo-terra for the first 6 months, then I would go with the next size up from the large Reptibreeze (X-Large) as a minimum for an adult
From what I understand that is correct for mammals such as us. Reptiles on the other hand drink rain water in the wild and this is especially so for arboreal reptiles such as chameleons. People have used distilled water for chameleons for a long time and if you are supplementing right there...
You can buy jugs of distilled water and RO water at drug stores.. I think even walmart carries them.. They are not the same as natural spring water, that stuff will leave spots
With the mistking you would want to use distilled water or reverse osmosis water, tap water will clog the nozzles. Distilled water will not leave water spots on the glass at all
You can also cover the sides and back of the screen enclosure with plastic, that will help keep humidity in as well.. +1 for live plants, they do wonders for humidity levels
I have a split leaf philodendron in my living room, its 4ft high and 3ft wide. they can grow big.. Mines too big for the enclosure, and I can't bring myself to prune it
I'd go into petsmart and ask them to order you one. You won't have to pay shipping and if there was something wrong with it you'd be able to take it to the store and exchange it.. They deal with zoomed equipment.. We have a petculture here in PEI and they are wonderful to work with, every time I...
who needs vet school when you got the internet? Or doctors or any professionals..Right Ferret?!
Is there a DIY X-ray machine vid on you-tube? Hahaha
Seriously though.. Definitely a vet visit is needed
I probably will build a matching base at some point. I'm currently building a reptile room and when I get it done and know where I'm going to set everything up I'll know what will need to be made. Thinking about building something similar to what I have now but making it a double or a triple...
Mistking is the go to choice for most people on this forum, that and aquazamp. Can't go wrong with either one, both made excellent and will last a long time
A 24" T5 fixture would be great for that enclosure.. If the fixture from home depot is a T5 HO fixture then then the T5 UVB bulbs will work fine! Just remove the plastic bulb shield since UVB will not go through that.
Only thing I suggest is you fill the holes in the side (the ones that are used...
I use distilled water for the misting system, doesnt leave water spots on the glass at all.
I have some of the build info here, https://www.chameleonforums.com/new-enclosure-122283/
Yes I did, the pictures don't do it justice, the background is 3D and all the wires are hidden, It's integrated...
