i'm glad you had this thread going, because i was thinking the same question just the other day. my male is about 2.5 months at this point, and i was wondering how long i had to wait to see his true colors. i can already see some really awesome patterns in him, but no major coloration.
i took my female senegal, mystique, up to the vet today to have her tongue and possible impaction problem checked out. i had asked about this before in the forum, under the thread "tongue issue", and i thought i would give everyone an update on what the vet had to say.
he said that she looks...
i have misted her cage (and her body) several times since the incident, and i have yet to see it happen again.
i tried taking her to the vet earlier today, but all she did was run and hiss, so i decided it was best not to stress her anymore today. i shall take her on another day. she has been...
update 2
her eyes have returned to normal. i'm not too sure what happened to make her eyes swell or return to normal. i'm glad they have normalized though. i did some research around the internet, and it sounds as though it could have also been caused by the ficus in her cage if she happened to...
update
she has also taken on a bit of a mean attitude when approached. normally, i can just reach into her cage and she will climb onto my hand. now, she backs up, puffs up, and opens her mouth.
It is the Reptical with D3. I need to get some without. It is definitely the linear Reptisun. The light is 60 watts. I'm not sure of the temp. I will be going out to get a thermometer later today to montior temperature.
I noticed this morning that the eyes on my female Veiled are looking a little enlarged towards the front. Is it normal for there to be an awkward growing stage for chams? Maybe including odd eye growth? Or is this some swelling that I need to be concerned about?
She is in a 16x16x30 mesh cage...
that sounds awesome!! i'm actually going to that show. i've been looking forward to it since the last show i went to back in November.
i'll be sure to bring my camera.
these are a couple of the places i've found so far that sell the USB chameleons. they're pretty cool looking.
doesn't look like anyone in the U.S. sells it though :/

i am using a mix of real and fake. i like the real plants, but they don't always work as well in some situations as the fake ones do.
i do know about the safe and not safe plants, i always take a list of safe plants with me when i'm buying new ones.
thanks for the links sandrachameleon!
i'll try a different gutload for the crickets. i have tried other insects in the past, and just today i tried giving her superworms, but she refuses to eat anything but crickets.
to answer your question PITBULL, i don't believe she is gravid.
well, i'm on the right track so far with a nice digital camera. i will just have to get them used to the camera. they are still young, so i'm still working with them to not be afraid of me as a handler.
i'm curious to know how you all have managed to get such amazing shots of your gorgeous chams. i have tried many times to take pics of mine, but they are very camera shy.
maybe i should use a cham-era...haha...lame joke, i know. but on a more serious note, how do you get such great shots?
what is your opinion on fake versus real plants? i have had a few people tell me that they love using fake plants for their chams, but i don't know if i like the idea or not. i still consider myself a rather new chameleon parent (my first was given to me july '08). i love real plants, but i...
that looks really nice. i didn't know you could have an open top set-up like that. is there a need to worry about escape with something like that? i've always wanted to try it, but have been hesitant.
that was very odd, and extremely funny at the same time. i'm not too sure how i would react to finding a dead gecko in my breakfast.
hmmm....i wonder if the chicken noticed...
I did forget to mention that I do dust the crickets every other day for her to make sure she is getting enough calcium to make up for any deficiency she may have. I use Tetrafauna ReptoCal as my calcium, and Rep-Cal Herptivite for the multivitamin. I do watch her drink water several times a day...
Thank you for all of the warm welcomes. I plan on putting up pics as soon as I am able to get some. I have some very camera shy chameleons.
Yes skeeta, I am a musician. You are more than welcome to come down here to Florida. The Orlando Repticon is happening January 31st-February 1st. You...
