Step 5. Spray foam.
This stuff stinks and expands rapidly. USE GLOVES.
Anyways Once you start a can you cannot stop. I did the background first. I sprayed a ton of foam underneath the background to help keep everything in place. More importantly prevent bacteria growth and a place for crickets...
Step 4: Silicone.
So I used a marine safe silicone.
a. Place the pieces where you want them.
b. Either mark or remember where the wood touches the glass.
c. Clean the glass with rubbing alcohol and allow to dry.
d. put silicone on the glass - Dont need much.
e. Put a ton of silicone on the...
Step 1:
Place the background.
For the background I used Zoomed Cork found here:
http://zoomed.com/db/products/EntryDetail.php?EntryID=35&SearchID=5
I used two flat pieces and one half round piece to use for the water fall itself.
Step 2: Decide where you want the water to enter and exit...
So after reviewing the videos I took in the lighting is soooo terrible you can not see anything... Lesson learned.
So I will have to use the pictures the pictures I have and write in the rest,....
Sorry guys...
Once you have your design my basic steps went like this
Step 1: Place background how you want.
Step 2: Decide where you want the water to enter and exit the cage.
Step 3: Drill holes - If you are not proficient with a drill get a aquarium place or someone who is proficient with a drill to do...
One thing in the Videos that i probably will not stress on is planning. Planning is the most important part of this before anything else. Draw out what you want to do, test fit everything.
This is very important because once you drill the glass, you either have to seal it back up to make...
So I am terrible at taking video and jumped the gun today without taking video, however the design of the tank is almost complete, just need a pothos and I will be happy look here for a mix of videos and pictures of my progress... I have learnt alot from building this some things I would do...
Here's the short list of what you want -
During day - UVB and Basking spot
UVB allows the cham to produce D3. Basking spot provides heat. Too much heat is bad, too little is bad. 88-90 degrees is what you should aim for, a little higher is okay. Wouldn't go lower.
A set schedule for the lights...
This is hard to accomplish in the typical 24x24x48 enclosure that is recommended. I personally use 2 lamps during the day, one ceramic and one asking bulb. This is to keep the heat up at night as the basement get too cold for a panther chameleon. Now if you have a wider enclosure say a 48" wide...
Hi everyone,
I decided to go ahead and attempt something that others have but have yet to find someone who has attempted the way I want to incorporate it into a chameleon cage....
Three notes before I start getting bashed or someone else tries to follow in these footsteps....
1) I am well...
I am going to setup and run for a week before and animal gets anywhere close to this tank so we shall see.. I will be posting videos on how I built it...
If worst comes to worst I will be just shutting off the waterfall pump
Interesting, I do not want to have to change the water more than once a week...
So by the looks of it, hydro balls and carbon in the soil is not enough.. I am quite determined to accomplish this...
I am curious do you have a screen between the soil and hydro balls?
Has anyone tried building a...
I respectfully have to disagree with you.
I have done my research over the size of the cage, if all you are going off of is the care sheet then I ask you to do the math.
24x24x48 comes to 27648
36x18x36 comes to 23328
The difference between the two is 4320. Which is basically two square...
It is a panther chameleon.
I will still use a mister 2x a day.
I am gonna put some organisms in the soul to eat the poop, and dead foliage.
Basically the poop will not be sitting in the water. Neither will dead crickets.
So this is my plan I hope to get some drawings to make it make sense
cage size 36x18x36
floor will be 2-3" of bio balls
2" of organic soil with carbon mixed in.
i'm gonna use acrylic to make something similiar to dragon ledges.
use ESC fans x 4 to blow air into the enclosure for 2-3 mins...
Hey Chris,
Would a panther cham be okay in a 36x18x36 glass exo-terra terraium?
I am in Canada and as you can imagine having trouble with the humidity..
Also I am using a mistking, do you use RODI water when misting? or just tap water with the reptisafe?
I ask because our water in Canada is...
