I have a male veiled approximately 6 months old. I bought him on Sept. 1st from FLChams. I'm not positive on his age because when I bought him in Sept. the website said he was 3 months old and the website now, in Dec., still says the offspring are 3 months old :). He's a very beautiful cham...
I got my male veiled from FLChams.com. Finding a local will save you a good chunk of cash. But for me it's more important to have a healthy cham from a reputable breeder. I'm very happy with my cham. They were really helpful and answered all my questions. Good luck man
Thanks for the info guys. After having my veiled for 3 weeks now, I've come to terms that my lil guy is not a fan of being misted...no matter the temp. As soon as he sees me grab the bottle he begins is ascent to the protection of the ficus leaves :) An automatic misting system is next on my...
I heard this all the time too. So I asked a reputable breeder this question and he told me it really isn't necessary to start with smaller cages and move up, especially if you're going to cup feed. His reasoning was sound...they (chams) manage somehow in the wild. It's not like the size of...
Yeah I know what you mean. I went to my local show last sunday (Kansas City) and was pretty disappointed. I didn't stay too long, but I only saw some sad looking veileds and even sadder jacksons. If I were into snakes, then the show would have been much better, haha. I did pick up some...
I went to my local walmart, lowes and home depot, none of them had any ficus right now. I ended up finding a local nursery that had many ficus to choose from. I did pay $25 for it, but it is perfect :)
I recently just cut a hole in the bottom of my lllreptile cage. I just used a boxcutter and cut out a lil square. I was gonna put some screen over the hole but i just put my ficus over it (it also bends the plastic so it funnels the water to the hole).
Made you look! Course they do, check out my hibiscus evidence. I'll be sending the leaf in to CSI for a dental comparison. Gotta make sure there are no intruders :D
This leaf must have been sweeter
I like the cage setup! Right now I have an empty 2x2x4 awaiting some plants, vines and sticks. Thanks for putting pics up, it really helps me get ideas!
I would think that if he's hungry enough he'll find and eat out of anything. I've only had my veiled for one week and on the second day he ate out of the cup. I just use a clear plastic deli cup. I did have to put it kinda low in the cage because he would climb to a lower branch and shoot his...
This is the $6 walmart under counter light I was talking about.
I just took off the plastic to replace the bulb with the 5.0, turned it on and flipped it upside down. (i'm about to put some foil on the back of the light to reflect as much light down as possible)
Yeah, I'm pretty much just echoing what others have said. But I paid all of $6 at walmart for an 18" under-cabinet fixture. I haven't had any problems with it, just took off the plastic around the bulb (left it off) and put in the reptisun 5.0. It looks fine and best of all, it was cheap :)...
Although my experience with veileds is very limited, I would suggest just buying a bigger cage (2x2x4) even if you get a young cham. The size of their environment in the wild doesn't get bigger as they get older. The only issue would be finding food, but a feeder cup would solve that.
I'm a new chameleon owner. I just got my first cham (Quazimoto-3 month old Veiled) yesterday. I have a drip system and hand mister.
My question is this, is it normal for some chams not to enjoy misting? I've read many posts on this site and most people talk about how their chams love it...
