Looks like english ivy that i also have all over my neighborhood. From listening to chameleonbreeder podcast with nick barta it sounded as if it was safe but hopefully he can confirm when he sees this thread. After a quick google search it sounds too sketchy to risk
They are pretty simple to set up. Ive always used scissors to cut the tube and never had a problem. ball valve would be a good choice as stated above. Sometimes it hurts my finger nails getting the fittings off but im anal and like to clean the screen inside the nozzles alot.
They're pretty easy . I had a colony for 3 years and my panther never ate any. I rarely put food in there and they got to easily around a couple thousand. I ended up selling it a while back but started again with a couple hundred earlier this year and it's easily tripled in size already. I HATE...
Poor boy. I hope he gets better. I know nothing about them so I'd follow ^^^^ that advice. That uvb is super close to him so if a 2.0 is what should be used find a way to keep it a few feet away from him or put extra screen over it to lower the output. Good luck they are a gorgoes chameleon
It really depends on your temps and if you rely on mistings for water intake. My chams I rarely see drink from drippers so I have longer mistings because it usually takes them a few minutes just to get started.
Adult panther and veiled can eat the bigger ones but be careful they do bite and I've had one bite my panther and hurt his tongue. I try and stay at the 2 inch size now on
My adult panther ate 1 in the first 3 years of having him. I gave up breeding them until the beginning of this year I started another colony since I added another cham and He will eat them a little now which is 5 years later but it takes a while for him to eat if at all. Sucks but just keep...
Do GBR's eat dry gutload? And do they take to wet as well as say dubia? I've been looking into starting a colony but haven't got around to it quite yet
Not sure you will find a dry gutload with everything in there. Thats where getting coffee grinder or even blender will work to make your own if you are so set in having it all. A lot of the ingredients you listed are for a wet gutload so you could just buy them chop them up and freeze what you...
Usually it's recommended to switch off every week or two with a few different ones. I have gone the route lately to mix a bunch and freeze which is just easier for me right now.
My buddy just adopted a veiled today and I sent him this care sheet. Pretty informative.https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/entry/veiled-chameleon-care-sheet.395/
You will see your colony will go insane within a few months and you will probably want to separate them so you can save money. I always give the breeders left over fruit or butternut squash and they are breeding like crazy. Butternut also will last a loooong time and they demolish it
As mentioned above you definitely should feed a wet gutload to your feeders. Chicken feed is OK for them for just a breeding colony but I make sure when I do take them n out the babies and juveniles are properly gutloaded for at least a week before
You can feed dog food to your breeders but you will want to separate the ones you will be feeding and gutload them like crickets and every thing else. I personally am doing the chicken feed alfalfa with fresh fruit/veggies on my breeders and my own good dry gutload on feeders. Doesn't sound like...
