Wow wtf ....
A month ago Korea was the second worst-hit country in the world after China and the media was referring to Korea as the new "epicenter" of the coronavirus. There was a period where we were getting a thousand new cases a day. At the time, it seemed out of control. Yet, aside from...
Are you sure about this? My understanding (and I should know because it's my business to know) is that no sports events have been forcibly shut down - all of them have shut down voluntarily. Some, like the UFC and a few small golf tournaments, are still carrying on, albeit with no fans in...
I think we have to be more careful when tossing numbers around and using them as a basis for comparison. I don't agree with how you used this analogy to draw the conclusion that the flu is more contagious/dangerous. I'm not saying you are wrong, just that you cannot draw that conclusion from...
Regarding Ebola:
"Airborne transmission of Ebola virus has been hypothesized but not demonstrated in humans. Ebola is not spread through the air or by water, or in general, by food."
Annals of Global Health. Volume 80, Issue 6, November-December 2014, Pages 444-451
Ebola is far more scary and...
Pretty much everyone, including health professionals agree, it's not that dangerous to most people. Symptoms and mortality rate are like the flu, maybe 1% higher, at most, if you take into account all the people who have it and don't even know. In Korea, the mortality rate is 0.6% and that isn't...
Here is what I tried typing before it got deleted:
First, regarding impaction from eating substrate - reported instances of this occurring are very rare. I wouldn't worry too much about it. There was some discussion about this during one of the Chameleon Breeder Podcasts and they stated, even...
oh my god, I just typed out a super long post giving a ton of tips from my own bio-active enclosures, went to use the bathroom, came back and Google Chrome had shut down ...
15 minutes of typing down the tubes ...
This is a relatively old article (2003) that has probably been shared before, but I found the information very useful and still relevant.

Wow, I'd love to know how you set up this enclosure - in particular the planting. I see golden pothos, maranta prayer plants, maidenhair ferns and nephrolepsis? ferns. Am I missing anything? Are almost all of these mounted on the backwall? The setup looks very lush and stunning!
A bio-active setup will definitely help as you will have plants soaking up a lot of excess moisture. Keep in mind bio-active does not mean just adding substrate. Substrate without plants will just lead to a pile of mud at the bottom of your enclosure instead of a pool of water. Substrate and...
Believe me when I say, personally I am not that worried about this at all. I live in Korea where literally 99.9999999% of the population is wearing masks everywhere they go. I do not (partially because I drive a car to work). But, I think the response is natural, and amplified x 1000 because of...
GoodKarma summed up my thoughts on this perfectly. Don't freak out but you should be cautious. We can debate all day long about the mortality rate but it is clearly 1. highly infectious and 2. dangerous to senior citizens and those who have other medical conditions that compromise your immune...
I re-read what you originally wrote and get it now ... I have used 2 of the plastic adapters and have not had any issues whatsoever. Maybe you got a defective part? Then again, I'm not sure how well they would work with curved buckets. They are obviously designed to be inserted into a flat...
Looks really nice but $70 bucks is quite steep considering you can find something else that essentially performs the same function for less than $10. I use a clear plastic tub (pretty much identical to the one below) which also "shows" the water level (since it's clear, lol) and holds over 10...
This is the main reason I purchased a pair of Nosy Mitsio panthers last year. My male is mostly green but he has a good amount of yellow on his underside. Absolutely love it!
Thanks for the info - I didn't have the chance to read through the datasheets/specs so assumed there would be some differences. If the size/specs/mounting hole positions are the same as Vero, wish they would have just used Vero form factor that works with the same Pico EZ-mate connectors, base...
My understanding is that diatomaceous earth will not prevent spiders or other pests from crossing, but rather, if they cross, they will soon die from all the cuts they receive.
You can try spreading diatomaceous earth (I think Josh's Frogs Bug Blade is made from this) around the bins, and/or spray any spiders you see with vinegar.
Failing that you can give this a try:
As far as uniqueness goes, Trioceros has some really fantastic candidates:
