Our chameleon is also named after a video game. My husband named him Espio after the chameleon in the Sonic Heroes. I guess it fits because in the game he turns invisible (so I'm told) and our Espio is a master at hiding. Whenever I check on him before I go to bed, it takes several...
Not directly. It oscillates, so it might be hitting it every once in a while? Its completely across the room though. Could that be it? I can try turning the fan so it doesn't turn in the direction of his cage as much. :)
Lately Espio has been climbing up on the side of the terrarium to lay almost right under his basking light. I figured he was cold so I checked the temp in his basking spot with my temp gun. The horizontal stick about 6 inches under his basking light is 88.6 degrees and there is a vertical...
Thanks so much guys! :) I certainly take a bunch of pictures of him.. I'll have to make sure to go through them occasionally to make sure I don't notice any changes. :D
I knew Espio has been growing, he's shed several times since we got him 4 months ago, but I didn't realize how big he has gotten until I looked at the picture of him his first day home! In the first picture, he's 3 months old and the second picture I took today while we were hanging out outside...
I thought of another question. There is an earthworm or 2 in my pothos. I doubt Espio would ever encounter them since they tend to stay in the soil and he doesn't usually go by the soil unless he's chasing a stray cricket. Is it OK for them to be there though? I don't plan on him eating them...
Awesome! Thank you guys! I just didn't want to do anything that might make Espio sick.
Big Gulp- I will run to Hobby Lobby tomorrow and see if I can find something better. :) And I will look into that plant bulb. I have the worst luck with plants inside or outside. :(
My husband and I are new reptile owners. We got a veiled and he's pretty hardy. We still had to a lot of research and it's been a learning experience- thank God for the people on here. Also- my cham seems to think my fingers are food and has occasionally tried to nibble on one of my fingers. It...
Hey guys!
So I need to fill in some more of Espio's terrarium since his pothos doesn't seem to want to grow. I went to Petco today to buy some of their terrarium fake leaves, but the long ones are $20 bucks each and I would need 3 of them. Instead of spending $60, I turned to the...
Espio sometimes thinks my fingers are food... He has shot at my thumb before and bit down on it! That booger has sharp little teeth... lol My best bet is that he associates you with food, and wanted you to get on feeding him. I tend to give Espio treats from my hand and I'll hold it between my...
I hated our dripper. It always caused the terrarium to overflow with water. We ended up dishing out the 60 bucks to get a misting system, and it was well worth it. I have it go off 3 times a day and it keeps the humidity up without all the water sitting on the bottom of the terrarium. With no...
I spray those fake leaves heavily a couple times a day for him to drink. He generally sits on those leaves when I spray for him to drink (not on him, just on the leaves around him). The dish collects the water that drips off the leaves, so i can empty it easily after the spraying and keep the...
Espio moved into his big boy terrarium today! 24 X 24 X 48 screen cage. This weekend I'll be getting more sticks and vines for him to climb and some more fake plants for coverage. The plant in the bottom is a golden pothos, so hopefully it will provide more coverage as it grows.
Espio seems...
