    At that age, you can’t really tell by colors. Instead you’re looking at the base of the tail to see if there’s a hemipenal bulge. Bulge = male. No bulge = female.

If building one from scratch is an option for you (I personally am not great at that kind of stuff) then I would think about going big! Something like 4'x2'x4'...
