Hey just stumbled upon this thread ..I am a Maltese local and have been into chams, both local and not, for quite a while.
Myself and another couple of guys organize hikes to find chameleons..shoot me a pm should you wish to join someday ;)
Hi forum members ..
Around a week and a half ago I rescued a female Common Chameleon who was found opposite my daughters school. She was sitting on a tree with very minimal foliage and the tree is located in an empty plot with little or no trees.
Although it was raining on the days I found...
Well I think that it still needs to get slightly cooler towards Jan/Feb...I will keep this post updated..
Just wanted to show the highs and lows in temps...Summer 80f during the night
Thanks really appreciate ..I have found this helpful up until now > https://www.chameleonforums.com/uv-b-indices-madagascar-136050/
Still not 100% sure but clears out a lot
Right so I just got the Uv reader from the list above...at the moment I cannot afford the solameter .
I am getting readings of around 0.3 from about 4 inches below the UVB tube (Arcadia 10%) ..
I will be testing the outdoor enclosures tomorrow.
What do you guys think?
Thanks for the replies .
In fact that's what I would like to test..if there if enough UVB in the cages without the lights..
What would be an acceptable - (meaning enough UVB ) reading on the meter?
Hi everyone,
Just put my cages out side in my backyard, which is very shady..the placement the cages are in, only gets a very narrow edge of sun for maybe an hour of the day which is good as want to prevent overheating.
I control the heat with a heatlamp and wasn't intending on using uv...
Common chameleon after 13 months in my care..
He has been outdoors for most of the summer in a spot where th suns hits for about 3 hours of the day, part of the cage is constantly shaded ...
He is very plump compared to the ones seen in the Wild here and is fed slightly less than recommended...
Looks very informative and very focused one a certain area that interests me when it comes to chameleon species..
I will be getting this book as i`m sure it would help a bunch with montane species care !!
Quite a few. Malta is very small so don't need to travel much at all ..check out one of my threads called Night Hike. We saw close to 40 in about 3 hours!
