Finally miss quadricornis has laid her eggs. The father was hatched by Laurie and raised by me, and the mom was hatched by Tylene (Flynn's daughter) and raised by Bill.
8 perfect looking eggs and one that is probably infertile.
Ha-ain't that the truth. Of course F. minor are beautiful, but I don't see what makes them any more special than lateralis except availability. And F. labordi beats them both I think.
Frank,
Congrats! The eggs look great. Although gestation usually takes about 30 days on average, I've had them lay in as little as 14 days and commonly around the 20 day mark as well.
Chris Anderson-do you have any information about the eggs being fertilized by more than one father...
No, I follow it much more loosely. I use to feed the crickets for as long as I keep them until they are fed. I do, however, usually feed half-grown crickets to the adults, and don't generally have 3/4 or full-sized feeders.
I dust with Repashy All in One most feedings for the F. lateralis...
Nero has not fathered any clutches yet. He doesn't seem interested at the moment, but Tylene has been loaning him to me since November (?). Hopefully when the seasons change he'll get in the mood, haha.
Here are two pics of him I took this past weekend :)
Wow-they are stunners Bob! :)
@ Perry...
The Cricket Crack is not something I've used just yet. I have used Zeigler Monster Cricket Diet (bought in a huge bag from Amazon) for the past couple of years because I saw it was what was used (I could be imagining this) by Ferguson in his panther...
Monday isn't so bad when you are off work for snow, and are greeted by a CBB Furcifer campani. The parents were 6 month captives before breeding, and this one took 13 months to hatch (again-without a diapause).
Now let's hope this one stays alive-although we don't seem to have this...
Thanks everyone for the kind words.
@ Laurie-Nick and Amanda are awesome, and so is Kyle. I love them! Let's not forget Carl either.
I wish I could take pics like they do!
@ Tylene-I figured with all the sad WC news lately it would be nice to see some pics of CB quads living up to the...
I'm wondering if keeping them at a constant 65-70F for the incubation duration would allow enough moisture in the air without a supplemental heating source, being that this is how I incubate my eggs.
When did she lay? After about 10 days just start introducing them. You cannot rely on coloration alone with carpets. Instead, gauge her reaction. If she's receptive, it will be obvious when the male approaches her. Just be ready to take her out if she is not receptive, because she will not...
