Trooper went to the vet yesterday, and had those bones removed, he simply pulled them out :) he was a very good boy about it too - :p
I was not able to attend the apt/ but had my friend who I drag all over the states to pick up rescue critters - lol - take them for me , the little male also went, as he has not wanted to eat - he said they both look great , and Trooper no longer needs to stay on the shots - YAY , to slowly cut back his tube feeding, and see if he can not get over what he called the " transitional hump" , as some just have a harder time adapting - Trooper is looking better and better - now just to get him to eat again- he is close I can tell, he is watching the bugs again, I think very soon the big guys is going to bloom back out in his true colors :) the rest hold steady, doing well, I will try to do up dates on them this weekend- but :( as I know some of you know, who follow Elliott on FB, my special baby pup Elliott has been in a medical crisis since Sunday. he is just a tiny 1.7 pounds, and we are facing kidney issues =( - it is breaking my heart, and I promos I am taking care of the chams, but about every day I go after work, and pick him and all his IV's and meds up from the vet , from almost an hr away, keep him over night, and then run him back in the morning , I have an IV hanging over my bed now , and the sun visor hook works great to hang it on during the trips back and forth to the vets - lol - so that is why my time is so short , and posting is not high on my list atm - but I will keep you up dated on Trooper, how he does :D as well as the rest - the best I can - pics are Trooper at the vet, the bone removal, and little Elliott waiting to get is IV port flushed, and hooked back up for the trip back the vets for the day yesterday -

So glad the vet was able to pull those out. I know you didn't witness it, but did they come out easily? I've been meaning to send you other pics of Trooper just so you'll be able to track the progression and resolution of that injury. I know how you like to keep records. :)

My small male, Lazarus, hasn't been eating either. He's the one that looked as good as dead. In a matter of hours he came back from death's door. The most amazing turn around I've ever seen. However, he hasn't eaten on his own since then. Good luck to Trooper and Elliot. :)

So much going on Cheryl, hang in there you are doing so much for them all. And I am thinking of Elliott everyday. I have his little valentine paw prints on my wall and I just look at it and hope he is getting better.

Kudos to you Cheryl for your dedication. You're amazing. I hope that Trooper, the other male, and Perry's male pulls through.

The fact that the bones removed easily is I think a pretty good sign. I think it indicates that the body is healing and seperated the dead stuff from the living and walled it off. I'll bet he is going to be OK now.

I wonder if he didn't break them off right at the vertebrae, probably when he was captured. As time went on, the body pushed them out and they broke through the surface. Maybe they were buried in tissue until very recently. I once had a huge sliver in my foot (1/4 in diameter and half an inch long) that the doctor couldn't find (stupid me didn't go to a podiatrist) probing the wound. It worked its way out months later.

Speculation sucks. Some of you may quote me later.

That said. He looks good Cheryl and the info provided paints a clearer picture. Let me know if I can be of help.

Thanks :) he is doing much better, and I feel good about him now- but what a battle for a bit there - THANK YOU so much for all the help you have given :)

A little tidbit of info I haven't shared about Trooper is that early on, when he caught sight of one of the females, he started displaying to her. She, being gravid though, wanted nothing to do with him and started rocking. Hopefully, Trooper will, in time, get back to being healthy enough to become a good breeder. Glad the news about him is getting better.

well, maybe he just needs a peak at one of the ladies to get him over the last of this ;) :p he has started to drink pretty well again, I only feed even # of crix when I am doing close watch - so if I see 1 or 0 - I have a better idea if he ate , one is missing - so I really hope he ate it - I looked all over the cage, and could not find it - so lets hope he will start to eat and get off the tube 100% - I am only feeding him every other day now , and he seems to be hold his weight, but if I skip and try every 3, he starts to drop again, but I think he is on the mend for sure :D

Two more pics of Trooper. First one was taken on 12/23/14 and the other was taken in January. The third pic is of the smaller male. Cheryl, what have you named him?

Both my largest male, Cerulean, and my small male, Lazarus, are not eating on their own. Any progress on the two males you have?

still the same , Trooper is drinking now, and hunting, but I have yet to see him make a "kill " , but at least now he is back in the game - :D the little male has not gotten any worse, so at least that is good too- but still watching him close
the only thing I can say, is when trooper got the uri, he hid it very well, but that is when he stopped eating - do you think maybe your guys could have mild ones, and its throwing them off ? I have my fingers XX for them to make a full recovery :) keep us posted

I suppose anything is possible, but I haven't seen any sign of an uri whatsoever. It seems all 4 of these males are going through something similar though. "Not getting any worse" describes my two pretty well also. Occasionally I'll see something that makes me think they've turned a corner, but most of the time I'm thinking, "at least they're not getting worse." I 'm not content with that though (worried every time I check in on them) because we all know that chameleons can take a downturn very quickly.
