I prefer the DIY cages, they are the same price as the Reptibreeze but the latches are more secure. You can always use a feeder cup if you're concerned about her finding her food. She'll love the upgrade!
I agree that posts need to be supportive not attacking but sometimes these threads can be hard to read. I am sure she did not mean any harm to come to her chameleon but I don't see the benefit of having your chameleon sit on your head to watch TV with the cats around either. On the Enclosure...
I started with that set 4 years ago, it is all you need for one cham. As I added others, I've gotten additional nozzles and tubing. I run 3 cages on it- it has been a great investment!
64-66 is fine for a night temp. They actually benefit from lower temps at night. What is your basking temp? I didn't see what you were using for UVB, Light Your Reptiles is a great source for linear fluorescent UVB lights. Todd is a site sponsor and great to work with!
I'd get rid of the red light, they like it completely dark at night. Substrate is one of those hotly debated topics here- I personally do not use any substrate for the reason that it is easier to clean the bottom of the cage without it. You'll get dead feeders and poop in it coupled with the...
The chickens have officially entered the awkward teen phase, complete with attitude and little Flock of Seagulls haircuts. No eggs yet but they are hilarious to watch. They literally go nuts for mealworms.
I agree, looks like a burn. Looks like he also has a burned patch along his spines near his neck. Is your basking light too close to the top of the screen?
Very Interesting! I have always noticed that my crew has sleep stages. If they are disturbed during sleep, even of they seem to stay asleep, they are "cranky" (for lack of a better word) the next day. We had a big storm the other night, lots of thunder and lightning. I went to check on...
Gravid colors are dark- she will be dark, almost black in places. Pink and peach are receptive colors. She does not look like she has eggs in my opinion, but I keep a lay bin in my female's cage at all times. I can tell when she is ready to lay usually, but better to be safe than sorry. Your...
When your 3 year-old finds a turtle in an architectual salvage store. Inside the store. And you drive around for 30 minutes so you can find "his pond" where his mom and dad are. I am so proud!
I use a 50/50 mix of sand and coir (the bricks you soak in water) for my Russian tortoise. It keeps moisture well with a little misting every other day. Would that work?
