I'd really recommend going here for any tortoise info: http://www.tortoiseforum.org/
Also there's this: http://www.reptilesmagazine.com/Turtles-Tortoises/Tortoise-Care/Keeping-and-Caring-for-Red-and-Yellow-Footed-Tortoises/
That said, it does sound like he's baking where he is. White might...
You could keep feeding the locusts like normal, but maybe cut back a bit on certain days and then try offering something as a treat. Some type of worm perhaps. Silkworm, hornworm, waxworm, butterworm. That way he'll learn the really good stuff is coming from you and it will build up a positive...
The two brands I hear recommended are the Reptisun and Arcadia. I think Repti-glo are not as good. Don't put out as much UVB, like oneillchameleons said, and they don't last as long.
My Al has only eaten a couple roaches and he always holds them in his mouth and gives me a look of utter betrayal, lol. He isn't a big fan at all.
If you think about it, chameleons in the wild aren't really going to run across a roach. Most roaches are nocturnal and they tend to hide under...
I know I want to be an owner of one of your graciliors, but right now my husband and I are potentially looking at a long distance move in a year and I want to limit the number of animals I'm going to have to deal with. Definitely in the future though, because they're one of the most impressive...
It looks like she's just flattening herself for display or to absorb heat. KatpitalJ is right though, it does look like she has something going on with her eye in that first photo.
How old is she? You should start looking into how to set up a laybin so you can be ready.
Thank you! The sink is this one: http://www.homedepot.com/p/MUSTEE-Utilatub-23-in-x-25-in-Polypropylene-Floor-Mount-Laundry-Tub-14/202041453 I ordered it online and had it shipped to the Home Depot closest to me and picked it up there. There's a bit of overhang, but the zip ties keep it...
So are you thinking something like this?
Some reptile hobbyists are doing awesome things with the Raspberry Pi. I've been wanting to look into it myself once I've upgraded some of my reptiles into larger enclosures.
It's always an option, but don't underestimate how much vet bills can creep up depending on if your little guy needs multiple visits. Hopefully it's something simple, but you just never know.
Thank you very much Janet! It's all thanks to places like this forum. I couldn't have done it without all the knowledge gathered on this site. With Veileds being so common and the usual "pet store" chameleon, they really seem to have gotten the short end of the stick. It's a shame since they're...
You've got a great start! More foliage gives them more security, and the way you have it set up, he'll be able to choose if he wants to be more out in the open or more hidden. I'd only suggest some horizontal branches to give him a framework to move around. It'll be great when the pothos grows...
It's pretty amazing how quickly Veiled Chameleons grow. Al just turned five months a couple days ago and is sitting at 70g. He's working on another shed right now, and with that and moving his enclosure from one wall to another, he's gone off food a bit and is only interested in freshly molted...
You can look at Nick Barta's offerings here on this site: https://www.chameleonforums.com/threads/feeder-insects.149977/ He has some smaller feeder options that you can go with. You can email him and ask about shipping to Canada, if it's possible, or maybe he knows some good feeder vendors in...
There is a reptile event coming up in a couple weeks, the Repticon show on July 2nd and 3rd: http://www.repticon.com/jacksonville.html
Not many vendors, but there is one chameleon breeder listed. No idea what kind of chameleons though. You could give that show a shot, or wait for the much, much...
They're still pretty close, but I think Orange Headed when freshly molted have a bright orange color that's pretty stark. Something more different might be like Green Banana Roaches.
They do look pretty neat though! The males pretty much spend their adult days hitching a ride on the females' back.
Not my photo, but here's Anisomorpha buprestoides:
