At this moment I will put 1 panther per cage at approx 6 weeks old. I am sure you could do 2-3 per cage for newborns, but I like the convenience of tubs for newborns just to help with space.
I will get some work done this week and update, hopefully with babies in them.
Stitch, at that age you need to think more in terms of eating small amounts throughout the day rather than just a coup of meals a day.
Not sure what kind of enclosure you have him in, but I would suggest you keep FF avail to him at all times.
For example, when my lil ones are that age I...
Evening all,
After the great success of raising the Merus individually after the 1st month, I am going to go forward with doing the same with Panthers.
To that point, I picked up some more nursery cages from Dragon Strand and am getting it all set up.
By next weekend I should have 4...
You will be fine.
1. They know what is best for them.
2. Their digestion is a long process. 1 hour of extra light would serve no purpose.
Mine eat when they are hungry. Sometimes it is right when lights come on, sometimes at the end of the day.
No issues.
I have a male Transvaal that is doing great. Sadly I lost his mate months ago. So he is flying solo until I can get a hold of some more Bradypodions here in the states.
A pic here would be very helpful, but he just came out of the shell, have soem patience. I have had them take up to 2 days to completely come out once they pip through the shell.
Again, please share a pic if you do not think this helps you to clarify what you are seeing.
Sorry for the delay in getting back to this.
I start with 2000 adults. I place 2 of the little tupperware tubs you see in the pic in the tub of crickets. They are filled with dirt and have a screen lid on them.
Leave them in tub for 3 days.
Place the tubs with dirt in the large...
Im a tease!!
Panther eggs. Dame is a red body red bar (interesting sire) and sire is RBBB.
This was a pairing I did to see if I could really enhance some solid red coloration throughout the whole body.
Ill post pics of parents later.
You should be fine with 2 days in the dirt. There have been many times where mine have laid while I was out of town and it took me a couple of days to get to them. Just keep in mind that the more days out from laying the more careful you need to be with keeping them oriented the same as they...
You know the deal, lots of hungry mouths!!!
Got 25 babies right now and 105 eggs cooking.......
I have 2 long term feeding goals:
1. Get everyone to eat Dubias, they are so easy to breed and gutload.
2. Never buy crickets again!
I know cricket breeding comes up every so often, so thought it would be fun to share this.
Here is today's production, I get about this many every day or two.
Start by using the Hydei FF, they can eat them and the size will really catch their eye. Secondly, how many FF are you putting in the tub? Id suggest a screen top to that and load up the FF. They cant hurt him and you want him to have food all around him.
My first thought is that they are very high in protein in comparison to what a chameleons dirt ought to have. TO that point, it can lead to some pretty serious health issues.
In addition, I am guessing that they are actually fish food, not reptile food. I cannot imagine any reptile that...
Today was the day to break down her cage (big cage) and clean/sanitize it, so she got to hang out a bit outside.
Her weight is 208g, she is gaining weight nicely!!
I will have some pics of George (male) tomorrow when it is his cage cleaning day!!
